충남 서산시가 추진 중인 ‘예천지구 초록광장 공영주차장 조성사업’이 행정안전부의 2단계 지방재정투자심사를 최종 통과하며 본격 추진에 속도를 낸다.
서산시는 3일 해당 사업이 사업성, 타당성, 경제성 등을 종합적으로 인정받아 중앙 심사를 통과했다고 밝혔다. 이로써 지역 내 고질적인 주차난을 해결하는 동시에, 도심 속 녹지 휴식공간을 확충하려는 시의 계획에 청신호가 켜졌다.
사업 대상지는 예천동 1255-1번지 일원으로, 상업시설과 주거지가 밀집해 평소 중앙호수공원과 인근 상권을 찾는 시민들이 주차 공간 부족에 따른 불편을 겪어왔다. 이에 따라 시는 주차장 확충과 함께 쾌적한 시민 쉼터 조성이라는 두 가지 목표를 동시에 실현하겠다는 방침이다.
이번 사업은 ‘초록광장’이라는 명칭에 걸맞게 사계절 녹지 조경이 가능한 잔디광장을 조성하고, 그 아래에는 차량 445대를 수용할 수 있는 지하 1층·지상 1층 규모의 공영주차장을 건립하는 구조다.
서산시는 행정절차를 마무리한 뒤 오는 8월 착공에 들어가 내년 7월 준공을 목표로 공사를 진행할 계획이다.
