[브레이크뉴스 양주 = 김태영 기자] 경기도 양주시 관내 이큐음악학원(원장 마정주)에서는 중장년층 남녀를 대상으로 오카리나 레슨을 시작한다고 지난 20일 밝혔다.
마 원장은 “이 과정은 기초부터 다함께 시작하며 꾸준한 연습을 통해 ‘양주시 오카리나 연주단’을 구성해 양주시 관내의 각종 예술문화 행사나 요양원 등에서 연주할 계획이다”라는 포부도 함께 전했다.

오카리나는 흙으로 빗거나 나무를 깍아 만드는 관악기로 최근에는 플라스틱으로 재작돼 저렴하게 매입할 수 있다. 이 악기는 연주와 휴대가 쉽고 간편해 여행지나 어느 곳에서라도 즉시 연주할 수 있으며 다른 악기에 비하면 가격이 매우 저렴해 누구나 손 쉽게 가질 수 있다는 장점이 있다.
