경기북부보훈지청(지청장 손순욱)이 올해 추진하고 있는 '4인 5각, 함께 걸어 보훈' 프로젝트의 일환으로 양평군 몽양기념관에서 의미 있는 홍보활동을 전개했다고 24일 밝혔다.
지난 18일 경기북부보훈지청 직원 4명은 양평군 양서면에 위치한 몽양기념관을 방문해 몽양 여운형 선생 관련 전시 해설을 청취하고, 기념관을 소개하는 홍보영상을 촬영했다.

촬영된 영상은 경기북부보훈지청 유튜브 채널을 통해 공개되어 기념관 홍보에 활용될 예정이다.
'4인 5각, 함께 걸어 보훈'은 국민들에게 현충시설과 보훈정신을 널리 알리기 위해 올해 2월부터 12월까지 진행되는 연간 기획 프로젝트다.
경기북부보훈지청 직원 4명이 한 팀을 이뤄 매월 11개 관할 시군 중 한 곳의 현충시설을 방문하고, 국가보훈부 사업 홍보 및 직원 소통 활동을 자유롭게 펼치고 있다.

앞서 6월 호국보훈의 달에는 동두천시의 '자유수호평화박물관'을, 이번 7월에는 양평군의 '몽양기념관'을 각각 방문했다.
몽양기념관은 우리 민족의 자주독립과 평화통일을 위해 일생을 바친 민족지도자 몽양 여운형 선생(1886~1947)의 삶과 정신을 기리기 위해 건립됐다.

기념관에는 생가 복원과 함께 선생이 서거 당시 입고 있던 혈의, 장례식에 사용된 만장, 서울 계동 집에 있던 책상, 2008년 추서된 건국훈장 대한민국장 등의 유품과 자료가 전시되어 있다.
이번 활동에 참여한 보훈과 이정민 주무관은 "몽양 여운형 선생의 생가와 기념관은 자연과 어우러져 조용하고 잘 정돈된 역사적 공간이었다"며 "평화와 통일을 고민했던 지도자의 인간적인 모습이 깊은 울림으로 다가와 종일 긴 여운으로 남았다"고 소감을 전했다.

이어 "이번 방학을 계기로 더 많은 분들이 찾아와 가족 모두가 기억에 남는 시간을 보내시길 바란다"고 덧붙였다.

경기북부보훈지청은 '4인 5각, 함께 걸어 보훈' 프로젝트를 통해 국민들이 주변 현충시설의 의미를 되새기는 계기가 되기를 기대한다고 밝혔다.
오는 8월에는 광복절을 맞아 양주시의 독립운동 현충시설인 조소앙 기념관을 방문할 예정이다.
