Uljin-gun, ‘Culture Delivery in Every Corner’ to be held consecutively on July 31 and August 2… Performances that reinterpret the culture of the pants grab attention
Uljin-gun (Governor Son Byeong-bok) announced that it will hold the ‘2025 Culture Day, Culture Delivery in Every Corner’ event consecutively at the National Museum of Ocean Science on July 31 and at Wangpicheon Park on August 2.
This event is a place to continue the excitement of the first performance that was held successfully on June 28, and is part of the ‘Culture Delivery in Every Corner’ project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gyeongsangbuk-do, organized by the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation and the Regional Culture Promotion Agency, with the aim of sharing art without cultural exclusion. The art group ‘Eomamusi’ is operating ‘Gyeongbuk On Village Train No. 12’ in the Uljin area and is showcasing various cultural programs this year.
On July 31, cultural performances will be held at the outdoor space of the National Museum of Ocean Science and Technology, and on August 2, at Wangpicheon Park, a healing space in nature, providing a unique cultural experience for local residents as well as tourists visiting Uljin in the summer.
This stage will feature programs that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, including magic, bubble shows, and musical gala shows. In particular, the main content will be ‘Bajigekkun Hanmadang’, which reflects Uljin’s geographical characteristics and traditions.
‘Bajigekkun Hanmadang’ is a performance that reinterprets the spirit of Bajigekkun, who used to transport goods over the Sipiryeong Pass in the past, and the audience can experience an immersive performance by performing various missions and participating in games with NPCs dressed up as Bajigekkun. A small souvenir will also be given to the winner.
An official from the art group Eomamusi, which hosted the event, said, “We prepared with the intention of going wherever art is needed,” and added, “Like the baggage handlers who carried the weight of life in Uljin in the past, this time we will become art baggage handlers who carry the burden of culture and deliver warm art to Uljin.”
Uljin County Governor Son Byeong-bok said, “‘Culture Delivery in Every Corner’ that blends with Uljin’s nature is an open festival that can be enjoyed across generations and classes, and we expect it to expand opportunities for local residents to enjoy culture and revitalize the local cultural and artistic ecosystem,” and asked for the interest and participation of many residents.
Meanwhile, Uljin County plans to continue to work on improving the quality of life of residents and achieving balanced cultural development through various cultural events closely related to daily life in conjunction with the ‘Culture Day’ project.
