광복회(회장 이종찬)는 7일 여의도 광복회관에서 진행된 언론설명회에서 “국민과 함께 하는 광복대행진을 복원해 오는 광복80주년을 맞아 펼칠 예정”이라면서 “선열들의 독립정신을 일깨울 뿐만 아니라 후손과 남녀노소 모든 계층의 시민들이 어우러져 민주주의의 위기를 지혜롭게 극복한 것을 자축하고, 100년의 미래를 향해 전진하며 역사정의를 세우고, 국민 화합의 분위기를 확산시켜나가기 위해 복원하게 했다”고 추진배경을 설명했다.
이날 ‘국민과 함께하는 광복대행진’과 관련해 이종찬 광복회장은 “올해 광복80년 기념사업추진위원회 공식 행사의 하나로 진행되는 이번 행사는 특히 후손들이 주체가 되어 국민주권정부를 표방하는 새 정부가 국민과 함께 국가적 어려움을 잘 극복하자는 뜻에서 기획하게 되었다”고 밝혔다.
