군은 최근 민생소비쿠폰 사용처를 확대했다. 그동안 사용 가능한 매장이 읍내에 집중돼 있던 불편을 해소하기 위해 농협 하나로마트를 비롯한 지역 거점 매장에서도 소비쿠폰을 이용할 수 있도록 정부와 협의한 결과다. 이에 따라 울진농협 금강송점, 울진중앙농협 매화본점·근남지점, 남울진농협 평해·기성·온정지점, 로컬푸드직매장 후포점 등에서 소비쿠폰 사용이 가능해졌다.
이와 함께 교통 불편 해소를 위한 농어촌버스 무료화도 호응을 얻고 있다. 울진군은 지난 3월부터 농어촌버스를 전면 무료로 운영해 어르신들의 이동권을 보장했다. 병원 진료, 전통시장 방문, 장보기 등 생활 전반의 이동 편의가 크게 향상되면서 군민들의 만족도가 높아지고 있다.
또한 군은 65세 이상 1인 노인가구 및 노인부부가구를 대상으로 무료 빨래방을 운영 중이다. 세탁물 수거부터 세탁·건조·배달까지 전 과정을 무료로 지원하며, 노인일자리 참여자가 운영에 직접 참여해 복지와 일자리 창출의 두 마리 토끼를 잡고 있다. 지난 7월에는 울진읍에 2호점을 개소해 북부지역 어르신들의 위생복지 사각지대를 해소했다.
손병복 울진군수는 “군민들의 생활 속 불편을 해소하는 적극행정이 곧 지역사회의 활력으로 이어진다”며 “앞으로도 군민 의견을 반영한 실질적인 복지정책을 지속 추진해 모두가 행복한 울진을 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
