[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] “부산 바다, 웃음 바다!” 29일 오후, 부산 벡스코 오디토리움은 폭소와 환호로 들썩였다.
아시아 최대 규모의 코미디 축제, 제13회 부산국제코미디페스티벌(BICF)이 화려한 막을 올리며, 전석을 매진한 2,700여 관객과 함께 개막공연을 성황리에 마무리했다. 국내외 개그계의 레전드와 신예 코미디언, 그리고 유튜브 스타까지 총출동한 무대는 그야말로 ‘웃음의 향연’이었다.
개막공연에 앞서 LED 공연인 '생동감'이 펼쳐졌다. 확실한 호흡과 LED를 온오프 하는 방식으로 순간이동하는 효과를 내며 화려한 무대를 꾸며냈다. '생동감'팀은 어두운 무대에서 완벽할 정도의 호흡을 자랑하며 공연을 마무리해 뜨거운 박수를 받았다.
블루카펫부터 후끈한 현장 열기…박명수·랄랄·윤수일까지 총출동
개막에 앞서 개그맨 김동하의 사회로 ‘부코페’의 상징인 블루카펫 행사가 열렸다. 박형준 조직위원장(부산시장), 김준호 집행위원장, 김대희 이사를 비롯한, 국내 공연팀이 한자리에 모이며 축제의 서막을 알렸다.

‘개그콘서트 with 부코페’, ‘만담어셈블@부코페’, ‘서울코미디올스타스’, ‘안영미쇼:전체관람가(슴)쇼’, ‘변기수의 해수욕쇼’, ‘소통왕 말자할매 show’, 그리고 해외 공연팀 ‘벙크토피아(Bunktopia)’, ‘웍앤올(Wok ‘n’ Woll)’, ‘최강 일본 개그쇼(The Ultimate Japanese Comedy Show)’ 등 다채로운 출연진들이 블루카펫에 올라 관객들의 시선을 사로잡았다.
개막공연의 포문은 개그맨 박명수가 열었다. “부산은 제2의 고향”이라며 유쾌한 입담으로 무대를 장악한 그는, 과거 자신의 대표곡 ‘바다의 왕자’ 뮤직비디오를 부산 송정에서 촬영한 인연을 언급해 관객들의 공감을 자아냈다. 이어 “사면받고 노래 부르러 온 줄 알았는데 MC 맡으러 왔다”는 농담으로 시작부터 폭소를 끌어냈다.
코미디 유튜브 대상, ‘랄랄’ 품에…이명화 캐릭터로 수상소감, 개막선언
올해 ‘코미디 유튜브 대상’ 시상식은 특히 눈길을 끌었다. 박형준 부산시장은 직접 시상자로 나서 “제13회 부산국제코미디페스티벌 올해의 유튜브 대상은… 랄랄!”을 호명하며 분위기를 뜨겁게 달궜다. 수상의 영예를 안은 랄랄은 자신이 만든 부캐 ‘58년생 건물주 이명화’ 캐릭터로 무대에 올라, 특유의 재치 있는 화법으로 웃음을 자아냈다.
그는 “요즘 세상이 각박하고 웃을 일도 없지만, 인생 별거 없다. 찜닭도 먹고, 치킨도 먹으면서 재미있게 살자”며, 인생을 대하는 그녀만의 유쾌한 철학을 전했다. 랄랄의 수상 소감은 현장의 분위기를 더욱 화기애애하게 만들었다.

박형준 부산시장은 “도시는 재미있어야 성공할 수 있다”며, “코미디 페스티벌이야말로 부산을 더욱 행복한 도시로 만드는 기폭제”라고 강조했다. 김준호 집행위원장은 “올해 페스티벌은 관객과 함께 만드는 축제”라며 독려했다. 김준호가 “부산 바다, 웃음 바다!”라고 외치자, 박 시장은 “제13회 부산국제코미디페스티벌의 개최를 선언합니다”라고 화려한 웃음 축제의 시작을 선언했다.
개그콘서트부터 그림자 마술까지…갈라쇼 무대는 ‘폭소 연타’
2부 갈라쇼 무대는 ‘개그콘서트’ 팀의 릴레이 공연으로 이어졌다. ‘황해’, ‘심곡파출소’, ‘말자할매’, ‘데프콘 어때요’ 등 인기 코너들이 무대에 오르며 관객들의 웃음을 책임졌다. 특히 ‘황해’는 관객과의 실시간 소통을 강조하며, 무대 위로 일반 관객을 초대해 소개하는 코너를 진행해 큰 호응을 받았다. 관객 참여형 게임과 즉석 상황극은 무대를 더 풍성하게 만들었다.
해외 공연팀 ‘벙크토피아’는 인형극과 그림자 마술을 접목한 독특한 공연으로 국제 페스티벌다운 색다른 매력을 선사했다. 말 한 마디 없이도 관객의 상상력을 자극한 그들의 퍼포먼스는 큰 박수를 받았다.

개막공연을 시작으로, 제13회 부산국제코미디페스티벌은 30일부터 9월 7일까지 부산 전역에서 본격적인 극장 공연에 돌입한다. ‘사랑하기 위해 전학 왔습니다만?’, ‘서울코미디올스타스’, ‘희극상회’, ‘안영미쇼’, ‘변기수의 해수욕쇼’, ‘소통왕 말자할매 쇼’ 등 장르와 세대를 넘나드는 다채로운 공연들이 관객들을 기다리고 있다.

또한, 개막공연에 이어 ‘개그콘서트’ 공연 역시 전석 매진을 기록하며, 부코페의 막강한 티켓 파워를 입증했다. 특히 팬스타 라인닷컴과의 업무협약(MOU)을 통해 지역 문화 콘텐츠의 지속 가능성과 국제화에도 박차를 가할 계획이다.
폭염도, 경기침체도 비껴간 웃음의 힘. 부산은 지금, 다시 한 번 ‘웃음 바다’로 물들고 있다.

Before the opening performance, an LED show titled “Saengdonggam” (Vividness) was presented. Using precise timing and LED on-off techniques to create teleportation effects, the team delivered a stunning performance. The Saengdonggam team showcased perfect synchronization in the dark and wrapped up the show to enthusiastic applause.
From the Blue Carpet to the Heated Atmosphere… Park Myung-soo, LalaL, and Yoon Soo-il All Appeared
Prior to the opening, the signature BICF Blue Carpet event was held, hosted by comedian Kim Dong-ha. Park Hyung-joon, the organizing committee chair (also the Mayor of Busan), executive director Kim Jun-ho, director Kim Dae-hee, and domestic performance teams all gathered in one place to announce the start of the festival.
A variety of acts caught the audience’s attention as they walked the blue carpet, including: Gag Concert with BICF, Manzai Assemble @BICF, Seoul Comedy All Stars, Ahn Young-mi Show: For All Audiences (Chest) Show, Byeon Ki-soo’s Beach Show, Communication King Malja Grandma Show, and international teams Bunktopia, Wok ‘n’ Woll, and The Ultimate Japanese Comedy Show.
The opening performance began with comedian Park Myung-soo. Calling Busan his “second hometown,” he took over the stage with his humorous talk, mentioning how the music video for his hit song “Prince of the Sea” was filmed at Songjeong Beach in Busan, drawing empathy from the audience. He opened with a joke: “I thought I was here to sing after being pardoned, but turns out I’m here to MC,” prompting immediate laughter.
Comedy YouTube Award Goes to ‘LalaL’… Acceptance Speech as Character Lee Myung-hwa, Opening Declaration
This year’s Comedy YouTube Award ceremony was a highlight. Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon personally took the stage as a presenter, announcing: “The 13th Busan International Comedy Festival’s YouTube Award goes to… LalaL!” heating up the atmosphere.
LalaL accepted the award as her character, “1958-born building owner Lee Myung-hwa,” and delivered her acceptance speech in her signature witty style.
She remarked, “These days, life feels harsh and there’s little to laugh about, but life is nothing special. Just eat jjimdak, eat chicken, and have fun,” sharing her unique, light-hearted life philosophy. Her speech made the mood even more cheerful.
Mayor Park stated, “A city must be fun to be successful,” and emphasized that “a comedy festival is the very catalyst that makes Busan a happier city.” Executive Director Kim Jun-ho encouraged participation, saying, “This year’s festival is one made with the audience.” When Kim Jun-ho shouted “Busan Sea, Sea of Laughter!”, the mayor followed with, “I hereby declare the opening of the 13th Busan International Comedy Festival!”
From Gag Concert to Shadow Magic… Gala Show Stage Brings Continuous Laughter
The second part of the gala show continued with a relay performance by the Gag Concert team. Popular segments such as Yellow Sea, Simgok Police Station, Grandma Malja, and How About Defconn lit up the stage, keeping the audience in stitches. In particular, Yellow Sea highlighted real-time audience interaction by inviting spectators on stage, receiving huge applause. Audience participation games and impromptu skits made the show even more dynamic.
International team Bunktopia presented a unique performance blending puppetry and shadow magic, offering the distinctive flavor of an international festival. Without saying a single word, their act stimulated the audience’s imagination and received roaring applause.
Yoon Soo-il’s “Apartment” Sing-along… Dance Party Finale
The celebratory stage was headlined by singer Yoon Soo-il. Performing hit songs “Beautiful” and “Apartment”, he brought the excitement to a peak. With all the performers and audience members joining in a spontaneous dance party on stage, the festival finale was joyfully marked. Together, they shouted, “Busan Sea! Sea of Laughter!” to conclude the opening night in grand fashion.
‘BICF’ Kicks Off in Earnest… Continues Across Busan Until September 7
Following the opening performance, the 13th Busan International Comedy Festival officially begins its full-scale theater shows from August 30 to September 7 throughout Busan. A variety of shows crossing genres and generations await audiences, including: I Transferred Schools for Love, But?, Seoul Comedy All Stars, Comedy Troupe, Ahn Young-mi Show, Byeon Ki-soo’s Beach Show, and Communication King Malja Grandma Show.
In addition, following the opening performance, the Gag Concert show also sold out completely, proving BICF’s powerful ticket draw. Especially with the MOU signed with PanStar Linedotcom, there are plans to further drive sustainability and globalization of local cultural content.
Neither heatwaves nor economic downturns could stop the power of laughter. Busan is now, once again, turning into a true “Sea of Laughter.”
