대구YMCA 창립 110주년 기념식이 지난 9월 15일(목) 반월당 대구YMCA 본관에서 열렸다. 김정기 대구시장 권한대행, 강은희 대구교육감, 신관우 한국YMCA전국연맹 이사장, 국내외 YMCA 지도자, 교회·시민사회 대표, 청년·청소년 등 200여 명이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.
대구YMCA는 1915년 일제강점기에 설립돼 민족 독립운동과 지역 청년 운동의 거점 역할을 했다. 이후 청소년·환경·소비자 운동을 벌이는 등 지역 발전에 힘써왔다.

이충기 이사장은 기념사에서 “세계적인 전쟁과 불평등, 심각한 기후 위기 앞에서 YMCA는 굳건한 영적 믿음을 바탕으로 더 나은 미래를 항한 담대한 발걸음을 내디뎌야 한다”면서, “지역사회 청년·청소년 운동의 중심 역할과 더불어 지역사회 이웃들을 위한 희망 공동체로서의 역할”을 다할 것을 다짐했다.
강은희 대구교육감은 축사에서 “대구교육청은 청소년 사업을 주도하는 대구YMCA에 감사를 드리며 희망의 아젠다 10에도 동참하겠다”는 약속을 전했다.

이어서 김영민 부이사장 외 9명이 희망의 아젠다 10을 발표했다. 희망의 아젠다 10은 기후 위기, 지역 소멸 등 시대적 과제 앞에서 대구YMCA가 사명을 재확인하며 발표하는 새로운 약속이다.
