대자연 풍광을 한국화 채색으로 담아온 소호(小湖) 김숙진 화백의 5번째 개인전이 10월 4일부터 31일까지 수원시 영통구 신원로에 위치한 디지털 엠파이어2 빌딩 1층 아트홀에서 개최된다.
‘자연, 그곳에 머물다’를 주제로 한 이번 김 화백의 개인전에는 '만삭의 추경(秋景)', '자작나무숲', '솔향', '올레길 서정', '꽃과 구름의 동화', '빛이 머문 고요한 강변', '집으로 가는 길' 등 한국 곳곳의 아름다운 대자연을 담은 30여 작품이 전시된다.
자연 원색의 색감을 사실적이면서 동화적으로 화폭에 담아온 김 화백은 "복잡하고 고단한 일상에서 벗어나 어디론가 훌쩍 떠나고 싶을 때 자연은 언제나 그 자리에서 어머니 품처럼 포근하게 저를 맞아준다"고 밝혔다.
그는 이번 전시에 대해 "평온한 풍경을 마주할 때면 제안의 화심(畵心)이 조용히 움직이기 시작한다. 보이는 그대로, 느껴지는 그대로 담아내는 이 작업은 저에게 가장 큰 쉼이자 기쁨"이라며 "이번 전시는 그런 순간들의 기록이다. 자연이 건넨 위로를 화폭을 통해 전하고 싶다"고 전했다.
김숙진 화백은 특유의 생동감 넘치는 탁월한 묘사력으로 평단의 호평을 받아온 중견 화가로, 30여년간 200여회의 국내외 초대 및 그룹 전시회에 참여하며 활발한 작품 활동을 펼쳐왔다.
그는 대한민국 미술대전에서 특선과 두 차례 입선을 비롯해 대한민국현대미술대전 대상, 현대여성미술협회 현대예술인상, 한국 신맥회 우수상, 한국미협 이사장상, 통일기원 부채예술대전 대상, 한국 전통미술협회 우수작가상, 인사동비엔날레 초대작가상, 한국 예술문화단체 총연합회 예술문화상 등을 수상했다.
김 화백은 대한민국미술대전, 대한민국현대미술대전, 남농미술대전, 대한민국현대여성미술대전, 현충미술대전, 한국새늘두방지미술 공모전, 대한민국현대조형미술대전 등에서 심사위원을 역임했다.

The fifth solo exhibition of artist Kim Sook-jin, known for her Korean traditional painting techniques, will be held from October 4th to 31st at the Art Hall on the first floor of the Digital Empire 2 building in Sinwon-ro, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon.
Themed "Nature, Staying There," this solo exhibition features over 30 works capturing the beauty of Korea's natural landscapes, including "Autumn Scenery in Full Pregnancy," "Birch Forest," "Pine Scent," "Olle Trail Lyricism," "Fairy Tale of Flowers and Clouds," "A Quiet Riverside Filled with Light," and "The Way Home."
Artist Kim, who has captured the primary hues of nature in a realistic yet fairytale-like manner, said, "When I long to escape the complexities and ardor of everyday life and escape somewhere, nature always welcomes me with the warmth of a mother's embrace."
Regarding this exhibition, she said, "Whenever I encounter a peaceful landscape, my artistic heart begins to quietly stir. This work, capturing what I see and feel, is the greatest source of rest and joy for me. This exhibition is a record of those moments. I hope to convey the solace offered by nature through my paintings."
Kim Sook-jin is a veteran artist who has received critical acclaim for her unique, vibrant depiction. She has actively participated in over 200 invitational and group exhibitions, both domestically and internationally, over the past 30 years.
He has received numerous awards, including a special award and two honorable mentions at the National Art Exhibition of the Republic of Korea, the Grand Prize at the National Contemporary Art Exhibition of the Republic of Korea, the Contemporary Artist Award from the Contemporary Women's Artists Association, the Excellence Award from the Korea Shinmaekhoe Society, the President's Award from the Korean Fine Arts Association, the Grand Prize at the Unification Prayer Fan Art Exhibition, the Excellence Award from the Korea Traditional Arts Association, the Insadong Biennale Invited Artist Award, and the Arts and Culture Award from the Federation of Korean Arts and Culture Organizations.
