【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포스코 포항제철소가 29일 추석 명절을 앞두고 지역사회와의 상생을 위한 다양한 봉사활동을 전개했다. 이번 행사는 경기 침체와 물가 상승으로 어려움을 겪는 지역 상권을 돕기 위해 무료 급식 봉사와 전통시장 장보기 등으로 진행됐다.

이날 오전 송도동과 해도동 무료 급식소에서는 포항제철소 소장단과 정비사업회사, 파트너사 대표 등이 참여한 배식 봉사가 열려 어르신들에게 따뜻한 식사가 제공됐다.
또한 대해불빛시장을 비롯한 인근 재래시장에서는 임직원과 협력사 관계자 200여 명이 참여한 장보기 행사가 열렸다. 참가자들은 시장 내 식당에서 점심 식사를 한 뒤 명절 제수용품, 과일, 수산물 등을 구매하며 지역 상권 활성화에 힘을 보탰다.
포항제철소는 이날 전통시장에서 구입한 약 300만 원 상당의 송편, 과일, 건어물, 참기름 등을 해도동 경로당 11개소와 아동센터 2곳에 전달해 이웃과 온정을 나눴다. 오후에는 포스코 PHP봉사단이 연일전통시장을 찾아 약 2천만 원 규모의 ‘착한 선결제’ 행사도 이어갔다.
포항제철소는 명절뿐 아니라 평소에도 부서별로 지정된 자매마을 전통시장을 방문해 월 1회 이상 장보기와 식당 이용을 실천하고 있다. 직원들은 개인 물품과 함께 자매마을 주민들에게 전달할 지원 물품을 직접 구입하며 상인들과 교류하고, 시장 인근 식당에서 간담회를 열어 지역민과의 소통에도 힘쓰고 있다.
또한 ‘이웃 동네 점심 먹으러 가는 날’ 캠페인을 통해 제철소 부문별로 요일을 지정, 인근 식당을 방문하도록 장려하며 지역 상권에 실질적인 도움을 주고 있다.
포항제철소 관계자는 “이번 행사는 지역 이웃의 어려움을 함께 나누고, 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣기 위해 마련됐다”며 “앞으로도 재래시장을 비롯한 지역 경기 활성화에 지속적인 관심을 기울이겠다”고 말했다.

A POSCO official said, “This event was organized to share the difficulties of our local neighbors and to revitalize the local economy,” adding, “We will continue to pay attention to revitalizing the local economy, including traditional markets.”
