9월30일 대방동 공군회관 3층 대연회장에서 열리는 그의 출판기념회에는 자신이 그동안 방송연예 활동을 하면서 각별하게 인연을 이어온 300여 명을 초대해서 디너쇼 형식과 북 콘서트 형식을 빌린 엄영수 특유의 재치만담 개그 쇼로 꾸며질 것이라고 한다.
이 책은 그동안 LA 조선일보에 연재되었던 자신의 기고문들을 각색한 것인데, 여기에는 반기문 전 UN총장, 정대철 전 의원, 방송인 이상벽, 탤런트 전원주, 복서 홍수환, 개그맨 전유성 등 내로라하는 인물들의 대상으로 그들의 철학 인생 사상 등에 관해 인터뷰하고 취재한 내용이다. 개그맨 엄영수 자신의 입장에서 구수한 입담으로 풀어내듯 써낸 에세이집.
특히 이 책에는 최근 갑자기 유명을 달리한 개그계의 원조 고 전유성과 관련된 내용이 24쪽에 이를 정도로 상당 분량 담겨져 두 사람의 각별한 인연을 녹여내고 있고 후미에 서평까지 써준 상황인데, 이 책의 출간 직전 세상을 떠나 더한 안타까움을 자아내고 있다.
“추석 연휴 직전에 열리는 행사라 날짜가 참 애매했지만, 그래도 꼭 모시고 싶은 분들, 꼭 오시고 싶은 분들만 모셔서 엄영수의 업그레이드된 진득한 면모로 인사드리겠다”고 밝힌 그는 실제로도 우리나라 연예계의 최고 마당발뿐만 아니라 지인들의 애경사에는 빠지지 않는 품앗시 봉사정신으로 널리 알려져 있기도 하다. 그런 그가 그동안 다른 사람들의 출판기념회 사회자로 나선 것만도 수백 번에 이르지만, 정작 자신이 주인공으로 사인을 하는 출판기념회는 처음이다.
