이번 공모전은 이하진, 김한라, 권재영 등 주목받는 신예 작가들을 배출하며 한국 SF 문학의 외연을 넓혀온 대표적 등용문이다.
올해 가장 두드러진 변화는 도전 기회의 확대다. 기존 1인 1편 제한에서 2편까지 출품할 수 있게 되면서 참가자들은 보다 다양한 아이디어를 선보일 수 있다. 또 응모 자격이 대학원 수료생까지 확대돼 경쟁의 폭이 한층 넓어졌다.
공모전은 SF 단편소설 부문으로, 200자 원고지 기준 80~150매 분량의 작품을 접수한다. 응모 기간은 오는 11월 3일부터 내년 1월 11일까지 약 두 달간이다. 전국 이공계 학부생(휴학생 포함), 대학원생, 대학원 수료생이 참여할 수 있으며, 이공계 복수전공자는 가능하나 부전공자는 제외된다.
시상은 대상 1명(상금 500만 원), 우수상 3명(각 200만 원)으로 총 1,100만 원 규모다. 수상작은 은행나무 출판사를 통해 『2026 POSTECH SF AWARD 수상 작품집』으로 발간돼, 신인 작가들에게 등단의 기회가 제공된다.

The '2026 POSTECH SF AWARD,' which allows science and engineering students to bring their creative imaginations to life, has returned with new requirements.
