세종시가 16일 시청 여민실에서 ‘서울대와 함께하는 인문학 아카데미’를 개강하고 수준 높은 인문학 교양 프로그램의 본격적인 출발을 알렸다고 밝혔다.
시에 따르면 이번 아카데미는 지난 9월 세종시와 서울대학교 간 업무협약에 따른 첫 번째 후속 협력사업으로, 서울대학교의 학술 지원을 통한 다양한 분야의 강연으로 시민들의 인문학적 소양을 높이기 위해 마련됐다.
특히 인문·사회·환경·기술 등 각 분야의 서울대 석학들이 강연자로 참여해 수준 높은 강연을 제공함으로써 세종시민의 평생학습 기회 확대와 지역의 문화적 품격 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
이날 개강식에는 세종시민대학 집현전으로 사전 신청한 260명의 수강생 외에도 현장 등록자들이 몰려 인문학에 대한 시민들의 높은 관심과 학습 열의를 확인할 수 있었다.
첫 강연은 서울대학교 교육학과 신종호 교수가 맡아 ‘인공지능(AI) 시대의 미래 역량: 무엇을, 왜 배워야 하는가?’를 주제로 빠르게 변화하는 사회에서 갖춰야 할 역량에 대한 심도 있는 통찰을 전했다.
서울대학교 인문학 아카데미는 오는 11월 27일까지 매주 목요일(3차시만 금요일) 오후 4시부터 6시까지 세종시청 여민실에서 미래교육, 철학, 사회, 환경 등 다양한 주제로 총 6회에 걸쳐 운영된다.
세종시민 누구나 무료로 수강이 가능하며, 시민대학 집현전 누리집(sjlms.sjhle.or.kr)에서 사전 신청하거나 현장 접수하면 된다.
금현섭 서울대 행정대학원장은 축사를 통해 “서울대학교의 학술 지원을 바탕으로 세종시와 지속가능한 교육 협력 모델을 만들어 가겠다”며 세종시의 평생학습 기반을 고도화하기 위한 지속적인 지원을 약속했다.
시는 이번 아카데미를 시작으로 서울대학교와의 협력사업을 점차 확대하는 한편, 향후 세종공동캠퍼스 및 복합캠퍼스와 연계한 지속가능한 교육·연구 협력 프로그램 운영 체계를 구축할 계획이다.
최민호 시장은 “대한민국의 높은 교육열과 문해력은 오늘날 세계에서 가장 잘 사는 나라로 발전할 수 있었던 원동력이자 한류문화의 본질”이라며 “서울대학교와의 협력을 통해 세종시민들의 학구열과 지성에 불을 지피는 계기를 지속적으로 마련해나가겠다”고 말했다.
