【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청(교육감 임종식)은 학습에 어려움을 겪는 학생들을 위해 ‘찾아가는 맞춤형 학습서비스’를 강화한다고 20일 밝혔다.
2012년부터 운영된 경북기초학력지원센터는 기초학력 보장을 위한 3단계 학습 안전망으로, 현재 본청과 22개 교육지원청에 모두 설치됐다.
8개 거점센터에서는 학습코칭, 치료지원, 학습검사 및 상담, 교원·학부모 교육, 자존감 향상 프로그램인 ‘해피캠프’, 교구·교재 지원 등 학교 맞춤형 서비스를 제공한다.
239명의 학습코칭단은 주 1~2회 학교를 방문해 학습 문제와 정서·행동 발달에 어려움을 겪는 학생을 직접 지도하고 있으며, 치료지원 대상 학생은 전문 기관과 연계해 언어·심리치료를 받을 수 있다.
현재까지 2,779명이 학습코칭을, 134명이 치료지원을 받았으며, 연말까지 지원 대상은 계속 확대될 예정이다.
포항 지역 학습코칭단 한 코치는 “학생이 처음으로 ‘겹받침 문제를 맞혔다’며 기뻐하던 순간이 기억에 남는다”며, “학습코칭은 단순한 공부 지원이 아니라, 학생의 자존감과 자기 효능감을 키워주는 과정”이라고 전했다.
임종식 교육감은 “학습 부진은 단순한 학업 능력 문제를 넘어 심리·정서적 요인과도 관련이 있다”며 “경북기초학력지원센터가 학생 한 명 한 명의 어려움을 세심하게 지원해 모두가 행복하게 배우는 교육환경을 만들겠다”고 말했다.
