선린대학교 응급구조과, ‘2025년 다수사상자 구급대응훈련’ 참여

【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=선린대학교(총장 곽진환) 응급구조과가 영덕소방서 주관으로 실시된 ‘2025년 다수사상자 구급대응훈련’에 참여해 실전 대응 능력을 한층 강화했다.

이번 훈련은 '재난 및 안전관리 기본법' 제35조에 따라 대형화재로 다수의 사상자가 발생한 상황을 가정해 10월 20일 영덕군 에너지산업융복합단지 일대에서 진행됐다. 실제 재난현장을 방불케 하는 긴박한 분위기 속에서 이뤄진 이번 훈련에는 영덕소방서, 군청, 의료기관 등 관계기관이 함께했다.

선린대 응급구조과 학생들은 훈련의 핵심 인력으로 참여해 ‘환자 역할(가상 피해자)’을 맡아 구급대원들의 중증도 분류 및 응급처치 과정을 직접 체험했다. 이를 통해 다수사상자 발생 시 신속한 중증도 판단, 응급이송 체계 운영 등 실제 현장 절차의 중요성을 몸소 익혔다.

응급구조과 1학년 손건 학생은 “환자 역할을 하며 구급대원의 신속한 판단과 전문성이 얼마나 중요한지 실감했다”며 “예비 응급구조사로서 국민의 생명을 지키는 사명감과 책임감을 느꼈다”고 소감을 전했다.

현진숙 응급구조과 학과장은 “이번 훈련은 학생들이 이론을 넘어 실제 재난 현장을 경험하며 실무형 인재로 성장하는 기회가 됐다”며 “영덕소방서를 비롯한 지역 유관기관과 협력을 강화해 현장 중심 교육을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 올해 개설 30주년을 맞은 선린대학교 응급구조과는 국내 최초로 응급구조과를 개설한 대학으로, 높은 국가고시 합격률과 우수한 취업률을 자랑한다. 지금까지 다수의 구급대원을 배출했으며, 해양경찰·소방·의료기관 등과 협력해 현장 중심 응급의료 전문인력 양성의 산실로 자리매김하고 있다.

 Sunlin University's Emergency Rescue Department Participates in '2025 Multi-Casualty Emergency Response Training'

Sunlin University's Emergency Rescue Department (President Kwak Jin-hwan) participated in the '2025 Multi-Casualty Emergency Response Training' hosted by the Yeongdeok Fire Department, further strengthening its practical response capabilities.

This training, conducted in accordance with Article 35 of the Framework Act on Disaster and Safety Management, simulated a large-scale fire with multiple casualties and took place on October 20th at the Yeongdeok Energy Industrial Complex. The training, conducted in an atmosphere reminiscent of an actual disaster site, involved relevant organizations, including the Yeongdeok Fire Department, the county office, and medical institutions.

Sunlin University's Emergency Rescue Department students were key participants in the training, taking on the role of patients (simulated victims) and experiencing firsthand the triage and first aid procedures performed by paramedics. Through this training, students learned firsthand the importance of practical field procedures, such as rapid assessment of severity and operation of the emergency transport system in the event of multiple casualties.

Son Geon, a first-year student in the Department of Emergency Medical Services, said, "As a patient, I truly realized the importance of a paramedic's quick judgment and expertise. As a prospective paramedic, I felt a sense of duty and responsibility to protect the lives of the public."

Hyun Jin-sook, Dean of the Department of Emergency Medical Services, stated, "This training provided students with an opportunity to develop practical skills by going beyond theory and experiencing real-world disaster situations. We will continue to expand our field-oriented training by strengthening collaboration with local organizations, including the Yeongdeok Fire Station."

Meanwhile, the Department of Emergency Medical Services at Sunlin University, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, was the first university in Korea to establish an emergency medical service program and boasts a high national exam pass rate and excellent employment rate. To date, the department has produced numerous paramedics and, through collaborations with the Coast Guard, fire departments, and medical institutions, has established itself as a cradle for training field-focused emergency medical professionals.
