인천시가 24일, 인천사회복지회관 이전 건립 사업이 행정안전부 중앙투자심사를 통과했다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 1996년 준공된 현 사회복지회관에는 28개 사회복지 기관·단체가 입주해 있으나, 건물 노후화와 접근성 불편, 공간 협소, 주차 공간 부족과 그로 인한 주변 민원 등으로 지역사회의 개선 요구가 컸다.

시는 그동안 기본계획 수립 용역과 중앙타당성 조사를 마쳤으며, 타당성 조사 결과 반영, 경제성 개선 등을 거쳐 이전 계획을 변경한 후 지난 7월 중앙투자심사를 의뢰했다.
중앙투자심사에서는 공정한 입주공간 배정을 위한 사전 협의 및 협력적 거버넌스 구축, 안정적 재원조달 방안 마련 등을 조건으로 사업 계획을 통과시켰다.
새로 건립할 회관은 총사업비 656억 원을 투입해 연면적 14,867㎡ 규모의 2개 동(복지회관, 커뮤니티 공간)을 지을 계획이다.
복지회관은 사회복지 기관·단체 사무실, 미추홀 종합재가센터, 대강당 및 회의실, 복지생산품 판매 홍보관 등이 들어선다.
