오는 26일부터 28일까지 경상북도교육청 발명교육체험관에서 개최되는 ‘APEC 2025 KOREA K-EDU EXPO’는 'APEC 2025 정상회의'의 공식 부대행사다.
‘마음교육’은 학생들이 자신의 감정을 이해하고 표현하는 방법을 배우면서, 스스로 마음을 조절하고 회복하는 힘을 기를 수 있도록 돕는 심리·정서 중심 교육이다.
대구시교육청은 코로나19 이후 학생들의 우울, 불안, 관계 갈등, 충동, 스트레스 등 정서적 어려움이 깊어지자, 2023년 전국 최초로 ‘마음교육’을 도입했다. 현재 학교 현장에서는 ‘마음학기제’와 ‘마음챙김 프로그램’이 중심이 되어 운영 중이다.
‘마음학기제’는 학생들이 건강한 정서와 심리적 안정을 키울 수 있도록, 학교 교육과정과 연계해 마음교육 수업을 연 15시간 이상 실시한다. 또 각 학교별로 ‘마음학기제 러닝페어 주간’을 자율적으로 운영하도록 구성된 것이 특징이다.
모든 초·중·고 학생을 대상으로 ▲틈새 시간 감사 표현하기 ▲5분 명상 ▲감정조절 등 쉽고 실천 중심의 ‘마음챙김 프로그램’도 함께 운영한다. 이를 통해 학생들의 정서조절력과 회복탄력성 향상을 지원하고 있다.
이번 ‘K-EDU EXPO 대구시교육청 마음교육 특별존’에서는 대구마음교육 정책 소개와 추진 현황, 효과성 검증 결과, 수업 지원 자료 등이 전시된다.
또, ▲AI가 학생의 마음 상태에 따라 ‘처방전’을 제시하는 ‘AI 마음 약국’, ▲긍정 언어로 꾸미는 ‘마음 거울’ 버튼 만들기, ▲초·중학생 대상 ‘내 마음 속 QR 체크인’, ▲가족이 함께하는 ‘마음 산책’, ▲‘마음챙김 명상’ 등 다양한 체험 프로그램도 마련된다.
대구시교육청 관계자는 “APEC 2025 정상회의와 연계된 K-EDU EXPO를 통해 대구마음교육의 가치를 국내외에 널리 알릴 계획”이라고 말했다.
강은희 교육감은 “전국 최초로 교육과정 속에 마음 수업을 도입한 대구의 사례가 사회정서학습에 대한 전국적인 관심을 높이고 있다”며, “앞으로도 모든 학생이 함께 성장할 수 있도록 대구마음교육을 적극 확산하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The "K-EDU EXPO Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education Mindfulness Education Special Zone" will showcase an introduction to Daegu's mindfulness education policy, its progress, effectiveness testing results, and classroom support materials.
Furthermore, various experiential programs will be offered, including: an "AI Mind Pharmacy," where AI provides "prescriptions" based on students' state of mind; creating a "Mind Mirror" button decorated with positive language; a "QR Check-In in My Mind" program for elementary and middle school students; a "Mind Walk" program for families; and "Mindfulness Meditation."
An official from the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "We plan to widely promote the value of Daegu's mind education both domestically and internationally through the K-EDU EXPO, which is linked to the APEC 2025 Summit."
Superintendent Kang Eun-hee stated, "Daegu's example of being the first in the nation to introduce mind education into the curriculum is raising national interest in social and emotional learning. We will continue to actively promote Daegu's mind education so that all students can grow together."
