브레이크뉴스 김충열 정치전문기자 = 세계적으로 인공지능(AI) 경쟁이 가열되는 가운데 정동영 통일부 장관(더불어민주당 전주시병 국회의원)과 (사)AI휴먼소사이어티 등 11월 3일(월) 14시 국회의원회관 제3세미나실에서 민·관·정과 함께 ‘미중 AI 패권 경쟁과 국내 AI-AX 도약 전략-피지컬 AI 중심으로’를 주제로 국회 AI 정책포럼을 개최했다.

이번 포럼에서 민·관·정은 미국과 중국 등 세계 각국이 국가 경쟁력의 핵심으로 떠오른 AI와 AX(AI 대전환) 육성에 사활을 거는 상황에서 세계 AI 3강과 AX 1강으로의 도약 전략을 모색했다. 특히 젠슨 황 엔비디아 창업자가 최근 경주 APEC(아태경제협력체)에 참여한 뒤 AI 개발에 꼭 필요한 그래픽처리장치(GPU)를 한국에 무려 26만장이나 공급하겠다고 밝혀 긴급히 후속 과제를 고민하는 자리가 됐다.
이번 국회 AI 정책포럼은 정동영-조승래 의원(더불어민주당), 최형두 의원(국민의힘)이 공동 주최하고, (사)AI휴먼소사이어티, 서울대 AI연구원, 한국지능정보사회진흥원(NIA), 정보통신산업진흥원(NIPA), 연합뉴스TV, 디지털타임스가 공동 주관했다. 우리나라가 국가적으로 미-중에 이은 AI G3 진입을 목표하는 상황에서 정치권, 정부, 기업, 학계, 연구계가 AI 혁신 생태계 조성을 위해 집단지성을 발휘했다.
이번 포럼에서는 박태웅 한빛미디어 이사회 의장 겸 녹서포럼 의장이 ‘글로벌 AI 경쟁과 한국의 AI G3 전략’에 관해 기조발제를 하고 이재욱 서울대 AI연구원장과 김동환 포티투마루 대표가 각각 ‘미중 등 글로벌 AI 트렌드와 전망’, ‘한국의 AX G1을 위한 현주소와 과제’에 관해 주제발표를 했다.
박 의장은 “최고의 AI- Native 정부가 되기 위해서는 AI-Native한 협업 체계를 갖추고 AI를 활용한 최고의 서비스를 국민에게 제공해야 한다”며 “정부가 첫 번째 고객이 되어 혁신을 이끄는 동시에 산학연 생태계를 조성해 지역 균형 발전을 이뤄야 한다”고 강조했다.
이재욱 원장은 “피지컬 AI의 등장으로 현실 세계로 확장된 AI 경쟁으로 미중 중심의 새로운 전장이 펼쳐졌다”며 “피지컬 AI는 제조업 생산성, 군사력, 에너지 효율 등 국가경쟁력을 재편하는 기술로 향후 자율전장체계, 제조 생태계, 도시 인프라 지능화 등으로 전개될 것”이라고 말했다.
김동환 대표는 AX 확산을 통해 제조업 등 중소기업의 경쟁력 향상과 교육 등 서비스 혁신을 꾀해야 한다“며 “Agentic AI 시대의 생존 조건은 AI Native”라고 힘주어 말했다.
