브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 정용진 신세계그룹 회장이 신세계와 중국 알리바바인터내셔널의 합작법인(JV) 첫 이사회 의장으로 선임됐다.
신세계는 신세계-알리바바 JV가 최근 주주총회를 열고, JV 이사회를 이끌 의장으로 정용진 신세계그룹 회장을 선임했다고 12일 밝혔다.
지마켓을 자회사로 두는 JV 이사회 의장을 정 회장이 맡는 것은 알리바바와의 협업을 바탕으로 한 지마켓 재도약을 이끌겠다는 의지를 담은 것이라고 신세계는 설명했다.
JV 이사회를 이루는 멤버 중 알리바바를 대표하는 인사는 제임스 동 AIDC 인터내셔널 마켓플레이스 사장으로, 알리바바그룹의 해외 이커머스 사업을 책임지는 인물이다.
신세계는 “JV의 양대 주주인 신세계그룹과 알리바바 인터내셔널의 최고 경영진이 이사회에 나서는 것은 그만큼 양사가 긴밀한 협업을 통해 성과를 내겠다는 의미다”고 강조했다.
장승환 지마켓 대표와 레이 장 알리익스프레스 대표는 공동 대표를 맡으며, 이사회에 참여한다.
이사회 멤버는 아니지만, 두 대표와 함께 JV 실무 운영을 총괄할 CFO에는 이마트 재무담당이었던 장규영 상무가 선임됐다.
