브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 조갑제닷컴을 운영하는 보수논객 조갑제 대표가 검찰의 ‘대장동 항소 포기’ 논란과 관련해 “2019년 조국 사태 때처럼 민심의 격분이 느껴진다”며 “잘못 대응하면 폭발할 수도 있다”고 경고했다.
조 대표는 12일 MBN ‘뉴스와이드’에 출연해 “우리나라 속담에 ‘잘 나갈 때 조심하라’는 말이 있다”며 “경주 APEC 정상회의가 대성공을 거두고 이재명 대통령의 국정 지지율이 63%로 급등했는데, 이런 때 이런 실수가 나왔다”고 지적했다. 그는 “이번 사안이 터지면서 APEC 회담 성과도 몇 년 전 일처럼 묻혀버렸다”며 “타이밍이 최악이다. 국민적 공분을 불러올 수 있는 사건”이라고 말했다.

더불어민주당이 ‘검사 파면 가능 법안’을 추진하는 것과 관련해선 “문제가 생길 때마다 법을 새로 만드는 건 잘못된 접근”이라며 “이러다 5000만 개의 법이 생기게 될 것”이라고 비판했다. 그는 “법을 권력의 도구로 만드는 것을 ‘룰 바이 로우(rule by law)’라고 하는데, 지금 민주당이 그걸 하려는 것 같다”고 꼬집었다.
조 대표는 또한 정부가 구성한 ‘헌법존중 정부혁신 TF’에 대해선 “공직사회 민심을 잃게 만들고 복지부동을 초래할 것”이라며 부정적인 입장을 보였다. 그러면서 “원칙적으로는 확정 판결 이후 인사적 조치를 해야 한다”며 “아직 재판이 진행 중인데 처벌 시한을 정해 몰아붙이면 엉터리 제보나 정치적 보복이 난무할 것”이라고 경고했다.
