[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 2025-2026시즌 여자프로농구 정규리그 개막전이자 비엔케이(BNK) 썸 여자프로농구단의 홈 개막전이 16일 오후 2시 25분 사직실내체육관에서 열린다.
이번 개막전은 지난 시즌 창단 첫 챔피언 자리에 오른 비엔케이 썸이 2연패 달성에 도전하는 공식적인 출발점으로, 인천 신한은행 에스버드와의 맞대결이 펼쳐진다.
이날 개막전에는 박형준 부산시장, 신상훈 한국여자농구연맹(WKBL) 총재, 빈대인 비엔케이금융그룹 회장, 방성빈 비엔케이 부산은행장 등 주요 인사를 비롯해 농구 팬과 시민들이 함께해 2025-2026시즌 부산 개막을 축하할 예정이다.
공식 경기 시작 한 시간 전인 오후 1시 30분부터는 다양한 사전 행사가 열린다. 비엔케이 썸 어린이 치어리더팀의 오프닝 공연을 시작으로 선수단 입장, 방성빈 구단주의 개회사와 구단기 퍼포먼스, 박형준 시장의 축사, 신상훈 총재의 개회 선언 등이 진행된다. 이후 선수단 워밍업, 응원가 소개, 주전 선수 소개, 시투 행사 등이 순차적으로 진행되며 오후 2시 25분부터 본 경기가 시작된다.
비엔케이 썸은 지난 시즌 정규리그 2위로 플레이오프에 진출해 창단 이후 첫 챔피언결정전 우승을 차지하며 부산 프로스포츠의 위상을 한층 높였다. 디펜딩 챔피언으로서 새 시즌을 시작하는 비엔케이 썸은 지난 시즌의 기세를 이어 ‘통합우승’이라는 더 큰 목표에 도전한다.
개막전 티켓은 한국여자농구연맹 공식 누리집(www.wkbl.or.kr)에서 온라인 예매가 가능하며, 경기 당일 현장에서도 구매할 수 있다.
박형준 부산시장은 “비엔케이 썸은 지난 시즌 부산 스포츠의 새로운 역사를 써낸 자랑스러운 팀”이라며 “새 시즌에도 멋진 경기로 시민들께 감동과 즐거움을 전해주길 바라며, 오늘 승리를 위해 팬 여러분의 뜨거운 응원과 격려를 부탁드린다”고 밝혔다.

Busan Metropolitan City announced that the opening game of the 2025-2026 Women’s Professional Basketball League will tip off at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium at 2:25 p.m. on November 16. The season opener also marks the first home game for the reigning champions, BNK Thumb Women’s Basketball Club, owned by CEO Bang Seong-bin.
The match will serve as the starting point for BNK Thumb’s bid to defend its title for a second consecutive season. The team, which captured its first-ever championship last year, will face off against Incheon Shinhan Bank S-Birds.
Local leaders and basketball officials—including Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon, Korean Women’s Basketball League President Shin Sang-hoon, BNK Financial Group Chairman Bae Dae-in, and BNK Busan Bank CEO Bang Seong-bin—are scheduled to join basketball fans and Busan citizens in celebrating the season opener.
Pre-game festivities will begin at 1:30 p.m., one hour before the official tipoff. The schedule features a children’s cheerleading team performance, introductions of both home and away team squads, and an honorary opening shot ceremony. BNK Thumb’s children’s cheerleading team will kick off the event, followed by team entrance, an address and club flag showcase from CEO Bang Seong-bin, a congratulatory message from Mayor Park Heong-joon, and an official opening declaration by WKBL President Shin Sang-hoon. The lineup also includes team warmups, a presentation of the BNK Thumb theme song, starting player introductions, and the opening shot, leading up to the main game.
BNK Thumb elevated the profile of Busan’s professional sports last season by advancing from second place in the regular season to clinch their inaugural championship in the playoffs. Entering this season as defending champions, the club now seeks an even bigger achievement—winning both the regular season and championship finals.

Mayor Park expressed his pride in BNK Thumb’s achievements last season, stating, “The team wrote a new chapter in Busan sports history, and I hope they continue to inspire and delight our citizens with exciting games in the new season.
