아울러 삼성전자 및 관계사들은 지역 균형발전을 위해 수도권 이외 지역에 대한 전방위적인 투자에도 나서기로 했다.
먼저, 삼성전자는 최근 임시 경영위원회를 열고 평택사업장 2단지 5라인의 골조 공사를 추진하기로 결정했다.
삼성전자는 글로벌 AI 시대가 본격화되면서 메모리 반도체 중장기 수요가 확대될 것으로 보고, 시장 변화에 신속하게 대응하기 위해 생산라인을 선제적으로 확보할 계획이다.
평택사업장 2단지에 새롭게 조성되는 5라인은 2028년부터 본격 가동될 예정이다.
안정적인 생산 인프라 확보를 위해 각종 기반 시설 투자도 병행 추진된다. 향후 5라인이 본격 가동되면 글로벌 반도체 공급망과 국내 반도체 생태계에서 평택사업장의 전략적 위상은 더욱 커질 전망이다.
