브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 경실련은 19일 전남 신안 장산도 인근 해상에서 발생한 ‘퀸제누비아2호’ 여객선 좌초 사고와 관련해 “또다시 여객선에서 대형 인명피해로 이어질 수 있었던 사고가 발생했다”며 깊은 우려를 밝혔다.
경실련은 이번 사고가 세월호 참사와 지난해 무안 제주항공기 사고에 이어 반복되는 공중교통수단 안전위기라고 지적하며 “탑승객 전원이 무사히 구조된 것은 다행이지만 이는 결코 가볍게 넘길 일이 아니다”라고 강조했다.

또한 경실련은 “중대시민재해 예방을 위해 세부적인 예방 규정을 마련하고, 예방 의무를 소홀히 한 자에 대한 처벌 조항을 신설해야 한다”고 촉구했다. 아울러 “중대시민재해의 대상 범위를 점진적으로 확대해 보다 포괄적인 시민 안전을 보장해야 한다”고 강조했다.
