세종시의회의원 선거구획정위원회 본격 가동

세종시가 지난 19일 시청 집현실에서 세종시의회의원 선거구획정위원회 위원 위촉식을 갖고 공정한 선거구 획정을 약속했다.

세종시·의회의원 선거구획정위원회는 공직선거법에 따라 내년 6월 3일 진행하는 제9회 전국동시지방선거를 앞두고 구성됐다.

이들은 학계·법조계·시민단체 등 다양한 분야에서 추천을 거쳐 선별된 11명의 위원들로 구성, 각 지역선거구 명칭과 관할구역을 산정하는 역할을 맡는다.

이날 최민호 시장은 위원들에게 위촉장을 전달하면서 투명한 선거구 획정을 당부했다. 

최 시장은 “특정 정당과 지역, 후보자에게 유리함 없이 기울어지지 않은 공명정대한 선거구 획정이 이뤄지길 기대한다”고 말했다.

이어 위원회 첫 회의에서는 선거구 획정에 대한 설명을 듣고 위원장 선출 및 선거구획정위원회 운영 전반에 대해 의견을 나눴다.
