경기북부보훈지청과 고양시 재향군인회가 보훈가족을 위해 손수 김장김치를 담그며 이웃사랑을 실천했다.
지난 19일 열린 '사랑의 김치 나눔 행사'에서 고양시 재향군인회 회원들은 이른 아침부터 모여 정성껏 김장김치를 담갔다.
이들이 직접 버무린 김치 300kg(가구당 5kg)은 고양시에 거주하는 보훈 재가복지서비스 대상자 60가구에 전달됐다.

이날 봉사 현장에는 박용주 경기북부보훈지청장도 함께했다.
박 지청장은 재향군인회 회원들과 어깨를 나란히 하며 직접 김치를 버무리는 등 김장봉사에 동참해 행사의 의미를 더했다.
고양시 재향군인회는 매년 회원들이 직접 김장봉사에 나서고 있다.
조광진 고양시 재향군인회장은 "국가유공자분들의 노고를 잊지 않고 도움이 되고자 매년 정성을 담아 모든 회원들이 직접 김장 김치를 담그고 있다"며 "김치를 받으신 보훈 가족분들이 맛있게 드셨으면 좋겠다"고 봉사의 취지를 밝혔다.
김장김치를 전달받은 서모 어르신은 "혼자 지내 김장을 준비하기가 어려워 걱정이 많았는데, 이렇게 직접 담가 챙겨주셔서 큰 힘이 된다"며 감사의 마음을 전했다.
박용주 경기북부보훈지청장은 "직접 손으로 김치를 버무리며 보훈가족을 위한 진심을 담을 수 있었다"며 "앞으로도 지역사회와 함께 보훈가족분들을 위한 다양한 나눔 행사를 기획, 추진해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
