시의회는 이진아 의원이 대표 발의한 「파주시의회 의원 교육연수에 관한 조례안」을 지난 20일 개회한 제260회 제2차 정례회 의회운영위원회에서 원안가결 했다고 밝혔다.

이번 조례안은 파주시의회 소속 의원과 당선인이 의정활동에 필요한 전문지식과 역량을 습득할 수 있도록 교육연수 운영과 지원에 관한 사항을 규정하기 위해 마련됐다.
조례안의 주요 내용은 ▲조례의 목적 및 적용범위 ▲교육연수의 계획수립 및 시행 ▲교육연수 신청 및 지원 등으로 구성됐다.
그동안 의원 교육연수에 대한 명확한 기준과 절차가 부족해 체계적인 운영에 어려움이 있었다는 지적이 제기돼 왔다.
이번 조례 제정으로 의원들의 교육연수가 보다 체계적으로 이뤄질 수 있는 법적 근거가 마련된 셈이다.
이진아 의원은 "이번 조례안을 통해 의원 교육연수를 보다 체계적으로 운영함으로써 의정활동의 전문성을 높이는 기반이 마련되길 기대한다"라며, "특히 당선인의 임기 초기 안정적인 의정활동 준비에도 실질적인 도움이 되길 바란다"라고 말했다.
한편, 이 조례안은 의회운영위원회를 통과한 만큼 본회의 의결을 거쳐 최종 확정될 예정이다.
