파주소방서 소속 서미라 소방교와 권지혜 소방사가 경기북부 여성소방관 최초로 '화학사고 대응능력 2급' 자격을 취득하며 지역 화학사고 대응 역량 강화에 기여했다.
파주소방서는 지난 10월 20일부터 31일까지 중앙소방학교에서 실시한 '제6회 화학사고 대응능력 2급' 평가에서 두 대원이 최종 합격했다고 밝혔다.

화학사고 대응능력 2급은 화학물질 누출이나 폭발 등 특수재난 현장에서 신속하고 전문적인 대응 능력을 검증하는 실기 중심의 평가 과정이다.
평가는 C급 화학보호복 착·탈의, 오염지역 통제선 설치, 화학물질 식별 및 정보 확인, 누출 탐지·긴급제독, 기체·액체 누출 통제 등 총 7개 종목으로 구성됐으며, 실제 현장 상황을 가정한 고강도 훈련이 진행됐다.
이번 자격 취득은 파주 관할 지역의 특성을 고려할 때 더욱 의미가 크다.
파주에는 LG디스플레이를 비롯한 다수의 산업단지가 위치해 화학물질을 취급하는 사업장이 많아 화학사고 대비가 무엇보다 중요한 지역이기 때문이다.
두 대원은 평소 현장 활동과 행정 업무를 병행하면서도 비번일과 개인 시간을 활용해 관련 이론과 장비 운용을 꾸준히 학습하는 등 체계적인 준비 끝에 합격의 영광을 안았다.
서미라 소방교와 권지혜 소방사는 "관할 특성상 화학사고 대비가 무엇보다 중요하다고 생각해 도전했다"며 "선배·동료들의 응원을 바탕으로 현장에서 믿음을 주는 소방관, 어떤 보직·현장에서도 제 몫을 다하는 여성 소방관의 롤 모델이 되기 위해 전문성을 계속 강화하겠다"고 소감을 밝혔다.
