[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 27일 새벽 전남 고흥 나로우주센터에서 진행된 한국형 발사체 누리호 4차 발사가 성공하면서 그 시작에는 경남이 주도했다며 발사성공을 축하했다.
이날박완수 경남지사는 입장문을 통해 “330만 도민과 함께 진심으로 축하드린다”며 “누리호의 성공, 그 시작은 경남이었다. 이번 발사는 대한민국 우주항공 분야 발전의 중요한 이정표이자, 경상남도가 세계 우주산업의 중심으로 도약하는 첫걸음”이라고 강조했다.
이어 “경남 지역 기업들이 발사체 제작과 운용을 주도하며 경남이 우주항공산업의 핵심 거점임을 입증했다”며 “국내 최초로 진행된 이번 야간 발사를 통해 차세대중형위성 3호와 12기의 큐브위성이 목표 궤도에 성공적으로 진입하며 경남의 우수한 기술력을 세계에 알렸다”고 밝혔다.
또한 박 지사는 “경상남도는 지속적인 기술 고도화와 발사체 개발을 통해 대한민국 우주산업 생태계를 이끌어갈 것”이라며 “경남이 글로벌 우주항공 산업의 중심으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
누리호는 2027년까지 ‘발사체 고도화 사업’을 통해 성능 안정화와 반복 발사를 이어갈 예정이며, 2026년 5차 발사와 2027년 6차 발사가 계획돼 있다.
경남도는 반복적인 발사 경험을 바탕으로 기술 신뢰성과 완성도를 높이는 데 민간기업과 함께 적극 협력해 나갈 방침이다.
이번 발사는 우주항공청 출범 이후 첫 발사이자, 민간이 체계종합을 주도한 최초의 사례로 큰 의미를 지닌다.
국정과제인 ‘세계를 선도할 넥스트(NEXT) 전략기술 육성’과 관련해, 도내 대표 우주항공기업인 한화에어로스페이스가 구성품 제작부터 조립, 발사 운용을 총괄하며 경남이 대한민국 우주항공산업의 핵심 거점임을 다시 한번 확인했다.

4차 발사는 국내 최초 야간 발사로 진행됐으며, 주탑재 위성인 차세대중형위성 3호(한국항공우주산업 개발)와 12기의 큐브위성이 목표 궤도(고도 약 600km 태양동기궤도)에 성공적으로 진입했다.
한국항공우주산업(KAI), 두원중공업, 에스엔케이항공, 현대로템 등 경남 지역 기업들이 대거 참여해 지역 산업의 높은 기술력을 보여줬다.
