고양특례시는 27일 킨텍스 앵커호텔 착공 기념식을 열고 대한민국 마이스 산업의 글로벌 경쟁력 강화를 위한 핵심 인프라 조성에 본격 착수했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 이동환 고양특례시장을 비롯해 지역구 국회의원과 고양시의회 의장 등 250여명이 참석해 사업 추진의 의미를 공유했다.
이동환 시장은 킨텍스 앵커호텔 착공은 단순한 숙박시설 확충을 넘어 대한민국 마이스 산업 경쟁력을 높이는 중요한 전환점이라고 말했다.
이어 수많은 국제회의와 전시, 산업 교류의 중심인 고양특례시와 킨텍스의 성과 위에 새로운 도약의 디딤돌이 될 것이라고 강조했다.
킨텍스 앵커호텔은 4성급 300객실 규모로 2029년 상반기 준공이 예정돼 있으며 국제행사 참가자와 방문객에게 편리하고 품격 있는 숙박 환경을 제공하는 것은 물론 지역 상권 활성화와 고용 창출, 관광 및 투자 확대 등 지역경제 전반에 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 기대된다.
시는 호텔 건립과 함께 킨텍스 제3전시장 건립 사업도 본격 추진 중이다.
