(사)한국작은도서관협회가 운영을 맡고 있는 이 도서관은 현재 2,142권의 장서를 보유하고 있으며, 연차별로 도서 확충을 이어가며 주민 누구나 자유롭게 드나드는 개방형 공간을 지향하고 있다.
책을 빌리고 읽는 기능을 넘어, 주민 참여형 프로그램도 꾸준히 확대 중이다. 압화아트·테라리움·양말인형 만들기 등 체험 중심 프로그램이 정기적으로 운영되고 있으며, 곧 에코백 그림그리기 등 새로운 활동도 선보인다. 단지 내 어린이집과 협력한 독후 퍼포먼스 미술 수업도 이어지고 있어, 책 내용을 그림과 동작으로 표현하는 융합형 교육이 호응을 얻고 있다.
겨울방학을 맞아 영어 수업이 필요한 아동을 위한 무료 영어 프로그램도 준비 중이다. 교육 사각지대 해소와 학습 지원이라는 공공성 확대 효과가 기대된다.
관리사무소 소장은 “주민이 편안하게 오고 다양한 프로그램을 경험할 수 있는 공간이 되어 기쁘다”며 “지원사업을 바탕으로 더 실질적인 문화서비스를 제공하겠다”고 말했다.
도남LH1단지 작은도서관은 앞으로도 독서·예술·놀이를 결합한 프로그램과 계절별 특화 운영을 강화해, 단지를 넘어 지역 문화의 거점으로 성장한다는 계획이다.
