그 사이 공연을 취소시킬 충분한 시간이 있었다. 중국인 관객들이 표를 사지 못하게 하고, 공연을 관람하러 오지 못하게 할 수도 있었다. 중국 측 보도에 따르면 21일 경에 공연취소 지시가 있었는데, 행사가 치러졌다는 말이 있는데, 그렇더라도 중국의 정치문화를 고려할 때는 이는 중국 공산당이 충분히 비판받을 수 있는 부분이다. 이 공연 중단 영상만 보면, 중국 공산당이 하는 짓은 그저 즉흥적이고, 그 즉흥성을 무기처럼 휘두른다고 볼 수밖에 없다.

그런 미군이 지금도 오키나와에 굉장히 많다. 주권, 행정권만 일본에 있지 섬 전체 통제권은 사실상도 미국에 있다. 오키나와의 주일미군은 그곳을 미국땅처럼 자연스럽게, 매우 편하게 이용하고 있다. 오키나와의 미군이 사용하는 총 면적은 약 140 km², 오키나와의 군사 요충지를 미군이 마음대로 쓰고 있는 것이다. 오키나와는 지금도 사실상 미군 관할 지역이 많다.
