브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 수협중앙회가 생산 증가에도 소비 부진을 겪는 민물장어 양식 어가를 돕기 위해 국회에서 특별 판매 행사를 열었다.
1일 열린 이번 행사는 문금주 국회의원이 주최한 “민물장어 국회 시식 및 특판전”으로, 수협은 국회 내 당일 판매 장터를 마련해 민물장어를 시중가 대비 최대 44% 저렴하게 선보였다. 이와 동일한 할인 가격은 수협쇼핑 등 온라인에서도 적용된다.
행사장에는 민물장어를 활용한 구이, 탕수육, 덮밥, 주물럭, 탕 등 5종의 요리를 시식할 수 있는 코너도 운영돼 민물장어의 맛과 경쟁력을 알리는 데 주력했다.
이번 특판전은 최근 급증한 양식량으로 인해 산지 가격이 크게 떨어지면서 양식 어업인의 소득 감소가 우려된 데 따른 지원 성격이 크다. 여름철 성수기 이후 소비가 둔화된 점도 고려됐다.
수협중앙회에 따르면 올해 1~10월 민물장어양식수협의 위판량은 1만312t으로 전년 동기 대비 35% 증가했다. 이에 따라 1마리당 위판 가격도 3만2,500원에서 1만8,500원으로 하락했다.
노동진 수협중앙회 회장은 “민물장어는 맛과 영양이 뛰어나지만 ‘보양식’ 이미지로 특정 계절에 소비가 집중된다”며 “사시사철 즐길 수 있는 일상적 소비 확산이 필요하다”고 강조했다.
이날 행사에는 노동진 회장과 국회 농림축산식품해양수산위원회 위원들이 참석해 양식 어가 지원에 힘을 보탰다.
