[브레이크뉴스 양주=김완영 기자] 경기도 양주시가 지난 5일 시청 상황실에서 「양주 서부권 도시개발 구상 및 3호선 연장 등 철도기본계획 타당성조사 용역 착수보고회」를 개최했다.
이번 보고회에는 양주시장을 비롯해 도로교통국장, 도시주택국장, 교통과장, 도시과장 등 관련 부서 간부가 참석했으며, 용역 수행기관인 ㈜동명기술공단종합건축사사무소, ㈜서영엔지니어링, ㈜케이지엔지니어링 관계자도 자리했다. 발표자에는 동명기술공단 한만수 상무가 맡았다.

또한 경기도 도시철도망에 반영된‘덕정~옥정 연결선’ 추진 방안 구체화와 50만 도시 대비 신규 철도 노선 발굴 등 종합적인 타당성 조사를 시행한다. 총 용역기간은 18개월이며, 용역비는 약 6억 7천만 원이다.
양주시 관계자는 “서부권은 양주시 미래 경쟁력을 대비할 중요한 지역으로, 도시개발과 철도계획을 함께 검토할 필요가 있다”고 전했다.
이어 “서울 3호선 연장의 광역 교통계획 반영, 덕정~옥정 연결선 실행 방안 마련, 신규 노선 구상 등은 중장기적으로 살펴봐야 할 과제”라며, “이번 용역을 통해 정책적·경제적·기술적으로 충분한 검토가 이뤄지길 바란다”고 덧붙였다.
양주시는 향후 용역 단계별 보고회, 전문가 자문회의, 관계 기관 협의 등을 거쳐 철도계획과 도시개발 구상이 실현 가능한 정책으로 연계될 수 있도록 체계적인 검토를 이어갈 예정이다.
