브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회는 지난 10일 국회도서관에서 열린 ‘제3회 한국ESG대상 시상’에서 공공기관 부문 ESG대상을 수상했다고 11일 밝혔다.
한국ESG 대상은 한국ESG학회가 주관하며, ESG 경영을 선도하는 국내 기업 및 기관의 우수 사례를 발굴하고, ESG 가치 확산에 기여하고자 매년 진행되고 있다.
한국마사회는 업(業) 특성을 반영한 탄소저감 활동을 추진하고 있으며, 태양광 설비 확충 등 재생에너지 도입을 포함한 ‘2030 중장기 온실가스 감축계획’을 마련해 단계적으로 이행하고 있다.
또한, 마분퇴비 활용, 폐편자 업사이클링, 국민 참여형 친환경 프로그램 운영 등을 통해 탄소중립 실천 활동을 지속 확대해 왔다.
이 밖에도 한국마사회는 2021년 ESG 경영을 공식 선언한 이후, ESG소위원회를 통해 추진계획과 성과를 체계적으로 점검하고 있으며, 지속가능경영보고서 발간을 통해 ESG 실행 현황을 투명하게 공개하고 있다.
추완호 한국마사회 경영관리본부장은 “이번 수상은 한국마사회 ESG경영 실천 노력이 외부로부터 인정받은 의미 있는 성과”라며 “앞으로도 ESG경영을 더욱 강화해 국민에게 신뢰받는 공공기관으로 자리매김하겠다”고 말했다.
