[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 일제강점기, 차가운 사할린 땅으로 강제 동원되었던 우리 동포들의 ‘멈춰버린 시계’가 마침내 고국에서 다시 흐르기 시작했다.
한국토지주택공사(LH)는 올해 영주귀국 대상자로 선정된 사할린 동포 138세대(226명)를 위해 안산 고향마을을 비롯한 전국 22개 단지의 임대주택을 공급하며 따뜻한 보금자리를 마련했다.
이번 주거 지원은 광복 이후에도 냉전의 벽에 가로막혀 돌아오지 못했던 사할린 동포들에게 국가가 마땅히 제공해야 할 ‘지연된 책임’을 이행하는 것이다.
LH는 지난 2000년 국내 최초의 사할린 동포 전용 주거단지인 ‘안산 고향마을’에 489세대가 입주한 것을 시작으로, 현재까지 총 2,437세대에 달하는 동포들에게 안식처를 제공해 왔다.
