파주시가 한국토지주택공사(LH)와 손잡고 운정신도시의 자족 기능 강화에 나선다.
파주시는 지난 19일 LH와 운정3지구 별하람마을 인근 유보지 내 도시첨단산업단지 조성을 위한 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약을 통해 양 기관은 신도시 내 첨단기업 유치에 적극 협력하기로 했다.
이번 프로젝트는 약 9만㎡ 규모의 도시첨단산업단지 조성을 핵심으로 한다.

여기에 국토교통부의 '주택공급 확대방안 후속조치'에 따른 3,200세대 규모의 공공주택 공급이 함께 추진된다.
또한 파주국민안전체험관 건립, 소리천과 연계되는 공원 녹지축 조성, 과밀학급 해소를 위한 학교 배치, 주변 상권 강화를 위한 복합용지 도입 등이 포함돼 일자리와 주거, 생활 기반시설을 융합한 복합 개발이 이뤄질 전망이다.
파주시는 이번 산업단지를 단순 업무지구가 아닌 첨단기업이 선호하는 특화된 산업·고용 거점으로 개발할 계획이다.
인공지능, 지식산업, 반도체 기술개발 등 고부가가치 미래산업의 새로운 거점을 조성해 양질의 일자리를 창출한다는 구상이다.
이와 함께 공원 녹지와 각종 생활편의시설을 갖춘 쾌적한 거주 환경을 조성해 도시의 자족 기능을 지속적으로 강화해 나간다는 전략이다.
파주시와 LH는 내년 초부터 도시첨단산업단지 조성을 위한 합동 전담조직(TF)을 구성하고, 단지 내 첨단기업 유치 활동을 본격화할 계획이다.
황인배 파주시 균형개발과장은 "운정3지구 내 유보지를 도시첨단산업단지로 탈바꿈하는 이번 프로젝트는 100만 자족도시로 나아가고 있는 파주시는 물론, 우수한 입지 여건을 갖춘 성장의 발판을 마련하고자 하는 젊은 기업가들에게도 더없는 기회가 될 것"이라고 말했다.
