【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구시교육청이 겨울방학 기간 동안 이주배경 초등학생들의 한글 기초 능력 향상과 학습 격차 해소를 위해 맞춤형 ‘한글 문해력 향상 프로그램’을 운영한다.
교육청은 방학 중 학습 공백을 줄이고 학생들의 학교 적응을 돕기 위해 관내 초등학교를 대상으로 프로그램 신청을 접수했으며, 그 결과 84개 학교에서 총 208개 과정이 선정됐다.
수업은 학생들의 학습 수준에 맞춘 소그룹 중심으로 진행되며, 담임교사나 한국어교육 전문 교사가 직접 읽기·쓰기 중심 수업을 맡는다.
특히 달서구와 달성군처럼 이주배경학생이 많이 다니는 지역 학교에는 수업 시수를 늘려 집중 지원한다. 이번 프로그램은 두드림학교, 찾아가는 한국어교육, 한글책임교육 등 기존 사업과 연계해 운영된다.
교육청은 다양한 수준별 소그룹 수업을 통해 학생 개개인의 학습 필요를 반영하고, 방학 중에도 지속적으로 언어 노출과 연습 기회를 제공해 학기 초 교과 참여도와 자기효능감이 높아질 것으로 기대하고 있다.
강은희 대구시교육감은 “이주배경학생의 언어 습득과 학습 격차 해소는 학습권 보장을 위한 중요한 과제”라며, “방학 기간 학습 공백을 최소화하고, 모든 학생이 배움에서 소외되지 않도록 꾸준히 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education will operate a customized "Hangul Literacy Improvement Program" during the winter break to improve basic Hangul skills and bridge learning gaps for elementary school students from immigrant backgrounds.
