【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 동구청은 1일 새벽 동촌유원지 해맞이공원에서 ‘동구 병오년 해맞이 행사’를 열고 새해 첫 공식 일정을 시작했다.
이날 행사에는 동구청과 동구문화재단이 공동으로 주관했으며, 주최 측에 따르면 2천 명이 넘는 주민들이 행사장을 찾았다.
해맞이 행사에는 지역 국회의원을 비롯한 정치권 인사들도 함께해 선거를 앞둔 분위기가 묻어났다.
강대식 국회의원은 “지난 한 해 많은 어려움 속에서도 버텨주신 주민들께 정치인의 한 사람으로서 죄송한 마음”이라며 “병오년 새해에는 다시 희망을 갖고 힘차게 나아가기를 바란다”고 말했다.
최은석 국회의원은 “대구 시민들의 삶이 더 나아지도록 함께 새롭게 만들어가겠다”며 “병오년 새해의 기운을 받아 모두가 건강하고 행복한 한 해가 되길 바란다”고 전했다.
이날 행사장에는 오는 6월 지방선거를 앞두고 동구청장과 지방의회 선거 출마를 준비 중인 후보들도 대거 모습을 드러냈다.

이들은 주민들에게 명함을 건네거나 손팻말을 들고 인사를 하며 얼굴 알리기에 주력하는 모습이었다.
지역에서는 해맞이 행사가 새해 첫 공동체 행사로 자리매김하는 한편, 지방선거를 앞두고 정치권의 물밑 경쟁이 본격화되는 신호탄이 됐다는 평가가 나온다.
