고양소방서 서장 박기완은 헬스장에서 발생한 심정지 환자를 현장에 있던 시민과 119구급대원이 신속하게 협력해 소생시켰다고 2일 밝혔다.

이번 사고는 지난 12월 23일 오전 9시경 고양시 도내동에 위치한 한 아파트 헬스장에서 운동 중이던 50대 남성 A씨가 갑자기 쓰러지며 심정지 상태에 빠지면서 발생했으며, 당시 현장에 있던 시민이 상황의 심각성을 즉시 인지하고 지체 없이 심폐소생술을 시행한 것으로 전해졌다.
신고를 받고 출동한 119구급대는 현장 도착 후 자동심장충격기 AED를 활용해 약 4분간 고품질의 심폐소생술을 이어가며 적극적인 응급처치를 실시했고, 그 결과 A씨는 현장에서 호흡과 맥박을 회복하는 성과를 보였다.
구급대는 이후 A씨의 상태를 면밀히 관찰하며 인근 병원으로 안전하게 이송했으며, 이송 과정 중 의식까지 회복한 상태로 병원에 인계된 것으로 확인됐다.
