[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 김해시 대성동고분박물관이 세계유산 등재 효과와 다채로운 전시 프로그램 운영으로 관람객이 급증하고 있다.
특히 외국인 관광객이 늘어나는 등 지난 한 해 전시 관람객이 7만 명 넘게 다녀간 것으로 분석됐다.
대성동고분박물관은 세계유산 대성동고분군에서 조사된 무덤 구조와 출토 유물을 전시하는 공립 박물관으로, 2009년 개관 이후 매년 기획전시를 통해 김해와 가야의 역사·문화를 소개하고 있다.
박물관 관람객 수는 코로나19 이후 2만 명대로 급감했으나 2023년 9월 대성동고분군의 세계유산 등재 이후 연간 5만 명대를 회복하며 뚜렷한 반등세를 보였다.
외국인 관람객 역시 등재 이듬해인 2024년 782명에서 2025년 3천명 수준으로 대폭 증가했다.
전시 프로그램은 2025년 ‘금릉 금빛 시선 특별전’을 열어 100년 전 김해의 사진자료와 시(詩)를 통해 과거와 현재의 문화유산을 재조명했다.
또 인기 콘텐츠 케이팝 데몬헌터스에 등장하는 ‘미라의 무기’ 모티브로 알려진 대성동고분군 출토 유물 ‘곡도(曲刀)’를 별도 전시하고, 해당 캐릭터를 활용한 포토존을 설치하는 등 젊은 세대에게 친근하게 다가가는 프로그램을 선보였다.
대성동고분박물관은 관내 박물관 중 최초로 문화체육관광부가 시행한 2025년 공립박물관 평가인증제에서 2019년, 2022년에 이어 3회 연속 인증을 획득했으며 관람객 편의와 세계유산 위상에 맞는 전시시설을 갖추기 위해 박물관 증축사업을 추진 중이다.
박물관 관계자는 “2026년은 일본 무나카타시 박물관과의 학술교류 10주년을 맞는 해로, ‘세계유산 교류 특별전’과 학술행사를 준비 중”이라며 “세계유산 축전과 다양한 활용 프로그램을 이어가며 국내외 관람객 유치에 더욱 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

The museum saw a significant increase in foreign tourists, with over 70,000 visitors last year.
The Daeseongdong Tomb Museum is a public museum displaying tomb structures and excavated artifacts from the Daeseongdong Tomb Cluster, a World Heritage site. Since its opening in 2009, it has showcased the history and culture of Gimhae and the Gaya Kingdom through annual special exhibitions.
Museum attendance plummeted to around 20,000 following the COVID-19 pandemic, but has rebounded significantly since the Daeseongdong Tomb Cluster's World Heritage designation in September 2023, reaching around 50,000 annually.
The number of foreign visitors also increased significantly, from 782 in 2024, the year after the site was designated, to around 3,000 in 2025.
The exhibition program, "Geumneung Golden Gaze Special Exhibition," will be held in 2025, shedding new light on the cultural heritage of Gimhae, past and present, through photographs and poetry of 100 years ago.

The museum is currently undergoing an expansion project to enhance visitor convenience and provide exhibition facilities befitting its World Heritage status.
A museum official said, “2026 marks the 10th anniversary of academic exchange with the Munakata City Museum in Japan, and we are preparing a ‘World Heritage Exchange Special Exhibition’ and academic events,” adding, “We will continue to work hard to attract domestic and international visitors by holding World Heritage celebrations and various utilization programs.”
