【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청이 운영하는 Wee 프로젝트가 학생들의 심리·정서 안정과 학교 적응에 실질적인 성과를 내고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
경북교육청은 1월 8일 2025년 Wee 프로젝트 운영 결과를 발표했다. 이번 결과에 따르면 Wee 클래스 이용 학생의 상담 만족도는 94.7%를 기록해 전년(86.7%)에 비해 크게 올랐고, 학교생활 만족도 역시 상담 전후 평균 3점 이상 개선된 것으로 집계됐다.
Wee 클래스 상담 만족도는 전년도 86.7%에서 올해 94.7%로 8%포인트 상승했다. 학교생활 만족도도 상담 이용 전 평균 5.38점에서 이용 후 8.42점으로 3.04점 뛰었다. 도내 22개 Wee센터를 이용한 학생들의 상담 만족도도 94%에 달했다. 학교생활 만족도 역시 5.64점에서 8.08점으로 2.44점 올랐다.
이러한 성과는 상담 지원 체계를 정비한 결과로 풀이된다. 경북교육청은 지난해 학생생활과에 ‘마음성장지원팀’을 신설해 Wee 프로젝트 전담 조직을 구축했다. 또 학교 Wee 클래스와 교육지원청 Wee센터, 외부 전문기관을 유기적으로 연계해 위기 학생에 대한 맞춤형 심리지원과 사례관리를 한층 강화했다.
운영 방식도 대폭 손질했다. 학교 내 Wee 클래스의 역할을 높이고 학생들이 일상적으로 상담을 받을 수 있도록 했으며, Wee센터와의 정기 사례회의, 외부 전문기관과의 연계를 통해 심리검사와 치료 연계도 원활하게 이뤄지도록 했다. 집단치료, 정서조절 프로그램, 가족 상담 등 상담 프로그램도 다양해졌고, 상담 교사 및 전문인력 대상 연수와 멘토링 제도도 상담의 질을 높이는데 기여했다는 평가다.
경북교육청은 2026년에도 Wee 프로젝트 확대와 고도화를 예고했다. 교육부 시범사업에 참여하여 기능을 보완하고, Wee 클래스 추가 설치와 학생 상담 프로그램 개발도 계속 이어나갈 계획이다. 또한, ‘경북-학교상담리더’ 운영과 현장 컨설팅, 연수도 확대해 학교 상담 역량 강화에 힘쓸 방침이다.
임종식 경북교육감은 “학생 상담과 심리 지원은 학교생활 전반을 안정적으로 뒷받침하는 중요한 역할을 한다”며 “앞으로도 Wee 클래스와 Wee센터의 기능을 꾸준히 강화해 학생들의 상담과 심리 지원이 학교 현장에서 안정적으로 이루어지도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

They plan to participate in the Ministry of Education's pilot project to further enhance its functionality, and continue to establish additional Wee classes and develop student counseling programs.
