파주시가 2025년 청소·자원순환 분야 대외평가에서 연이어 우수한 성과를 거두며 총 8천만 원의 상사업비를 확보했다.
시는 행정안전부가 주관한 '대한민국 새단장' 평가에서 우수 기관으로 선정돼 상사업비 5천만 원을 확보했다.

에이펙 정상회의를 앞두고 실시된 이번 평가는 전국 지방자치단체의 국민 체감 청소·환경정비 성과를 점검하기 위해 추진됐다.
파주시는 주요 생활권과 다중이용시설 중심의 환경 정비 강화, 방치폐기물 집중 수거, 폐기물 사각지대 개선 등 현장 중심 청소행정을 펼쳐온 점이 높은 평가를 받았다.
전 읍면동이 지역단체와 협력해 정비 활동을 추진해온 노력도 긍정적으로 작용했다.
경기도가 주관한 '깨끗한 경기 만들기' 평가에서도 2019년부터 7회 연속 우수 기관으로 선정되며 상사업비 3천만 원을 추가 확보했다.
이로써 파주시는 동 평가에서 그간 총 7억 3천만 원의 상사업비를 확보하는 성과를 거뒀다.
생활폐기물 감량과 재활용 활성화 등 자원순환 정책 추진 성과를 종합 평가하는 이번 평가에서 시민 참여 확대와 현장 실행력이 주효했다는 평가다.
심재우 자원순환과장은 "이번 성과는 현장 중심의 청소행정과 시민 참여 기반의 자원순환 정책이 대외적으로 인정받은 결과"라며 "앞으로도 생활폐기물 감량과 재활용 활성화를 통해 깨끗한 파주를 만들기 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.
한편 파주시는 미래형 자원순환 기반 시설 구축에도 박차를 가하고 있다.
유기성 폐자원을 바이오가스로 전환하는 환경순환센터 현대화사업과 생산된 바이오가스를 활용해 청정 수소에너지를 생산하는 미니수소도시 조성사업을 연계 추진 중이다.
또한 읍면동을 포함한 청사 전 부서에 다회용컵을 보급하는 등 1회용품 사용 저감과 자원순환 실천 확산에도 힘쓰고 있다.
시는 이를 통해 폐자원의 에너지화를 실현하고 재활용 중심의 자원순환 체계를 강화해 탄소중립 선도 도시로 거듭난다는 방침이다.
