[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 사천시 도심의 고질적인 상습정체를 해소하고, 도시 기능까지 회복시킬 발전소 우회도로가 8년간의 장기간 추진 끝에 드디어 모습을 드러냈다.
사천시와 고성그린파워는 지난 10일 사천시 향촌동 삼상교차로 일원에서 삼천포화력발전소 우회도로 개설공사 준공식을 개최했다.
이날 준공식에는 박동식 시장, 서천호 국회의원, 김규헌 시의회 의장, 도·시의원, 김우용 대표이사를 비롯한 고성그린파워 관계자, 주민 등 2500여명이 참석했다.
지역사회의 오랜 숙원이었던 이번 도로 개통으로 교통흐름 분산은 물론 소음·분진 등 생활불편 해소로 인한 시민들의 정주여건도 크게 개선될 것으로 기대된다.
이번 삼천포화력발전소 우회도로는 대표적인 생활밀착형 교통 인프라 사업으로 좌룡동~향촌동을 연결하는 총연장 4.3km, 폭 18m 규모로 개설됐다.
총사업비는 616억 원이며, 사천시가 토지 보상비 370억 원을 부담하고, 고성그린파워가 공사비를 분담하는 민관협력 방식으로 추진됐다.
사천시는 그동안 삼천포화력발전소 및 인근 산업단지로 출입하는 대형 화물차량이 도심을 관통하며 교통체증은 물론 소음·분진 등 생활 불편을 야기해 왔다.
특히 어린이와 노약자 등 교통약자의 안전에 대한 우려가 지속적으로 제기돼 왔다.
