군은 지방소멸 위기에 대응하기 위해 출생부터 고령층까지 전 연령을 아우르는 촘촘한 복지·정주 정책을 지속적으로 추진해 왔다. 출산 분야에서는 출산장려금과 첫만남이용권, 출산축하기념품 등을 통해 출산 친화적 환경 조성에 힘쓰고 있으며, 영유아와 아동을 대상으로 다자녀유공 수당, 양육수당, 아동수당, 아이돌봄 서비스 등을 지원해 양육 부담을 줄이고 있다.
청소년과 대학생을 위한 교육·돌봄 정책도 강화됐다. 청소년 방과후아카데미 운영과 학교급식 지원, 고등학생·대학생 장학금 지급 등을 통해 안정적인 학습 환경을 제공하고 있다.
청년층과 일자리 분야에서는 청년일자리센터 운영, 청년창업 및 지역정착 지원, 국가기술자격 시험장 운영, 직접일자리 사업 등을 통해 지역에서 안정적으로 경제활동을 이어갈 수 있는 기반을 마련하고 있다. 어르신을 위해서는 목욕비와 이·미용비 지원, 찾아가는 어르신 빨래방, 장수축하금 지급 등 맞춤형 복지 정책을 운영하고 있다.
이와 함께 귀농·귀어·귀촌 정책과 생활서비스 확충을 통해 정주 여건을 개선하고, 인구 유입과 생활인구 확대, 지역 경제 활성화로 이어지는 선순환 구조 구축에도 주력하고 있다.
울진군 관계자는 “청·장년층이 머무르고 아이 키우기 좋은 환경, 일자리가 보장되는 지역을 만들기 위해 정책 하나하나를 세심하게 점검하고 있다”며 “누구나 살고 싶어 하는 울진을 만들기 위해 인구정책을 더욱 체계적으로 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
