이번 인증은 EL3141 품목 가운데 원사 제품 부문에서 국내 섬유업계 유일하게 기후에너지환경부 산하 한국환경산업기술원의 ‘환경표지 인증’을 받은 것이다.
환경표지 인증은 소비자에게 제품의 환경 정보를 제공해 친환경 소비를 촉진하고, 기업의 친환경 제품 개발과 생산을 유도함으로써 지속가능한 생산·소비 체계 구축을 목표로 하는 제도다. 그동안 환경표지 인증은 주택과 건설용 자재 및 설비 분야 제품 중심으로 이뤄져 왔다.
