【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=경주소방서(서장 송인수) 황오119안전센터(센터장 김헌)는 16일, 소속 진준호 소방위가 2026년 정부 신년 인사회에서 ‘제11회 대한민국 공무원상’ 근정포장을 국민추천 대표 공무원으로 선정돼 대통령 친수로 수상했다고 밝혔다.
이번 수상은 경북소방본부 소속 공무원 가운데 2015년 이후 10년 만에 이뤄진 근정포장 훈격 수상으로, 대한민국 공무원상에서 현장 소방대원으로 근정포장을 받은 사례는 진준호 소방위가 처음이다.
인사혁신처가 주관하는 ‘대한민국 공무원상’은 2015년부터 시행된 제도로, 전 행정기관과 지방자치단체 소속 공무원 중 국가와 국민을 위해 헌신·봉사한 우수 현장 실무 공무원과 주요 국가 시책을 성공적으로 수행해 공직사회에 귀감이 되는 인물을 선발한다. 수상자는 두 차례의 심사와 공개 검증, 현장 실사, 국민평가단 평가 등 엄격한 절차를 거쳐 선정되며, 수상 시 특별승급이나 성과상여금 최고등급 부여 등 인사상 우대조치를 받을 수 있다.
진준호 소방위는 2005년 소방에 입문한 이후 20년간 각종 재난 현장에서 구조·구급·화재진압 업무에 헌신해 왔다. 특히 심정지 환자 3명을 소생시킨 공로로 하트세이버 인증을 3차례 받았으며, 총 12명의 자살기도자를 구조한 공적으로 제6회 국회자살예방대상 시상식에서 경북소방본부 대표로 소방청장상을 수상한 바 있다. 이 밖에도 금오대상 사회방재부문 대상 45회 수상, 화재대응 분야 우수대원 선정 등 다수의 표창 경력을 보유하고 있다.
진준호 소방위는 수상 소감에서 “20년 공직 생활 동안 응원해 주신 부모님과 아내, 두 자녀 덕분에 큰 상을 받게 돼 영광”이라며 “앞으로도 국민의 생명과 안전을 지키는 대한민국 공무원으로서 맡은 바 소임을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Gyeongju Fire Department's Jin Jun-ho Receives the 11th Republic of Korea Civil Servant Award for Service Merit
The Gyeongju Fire Department (Chief Song In-soo) and Hwang-o 119 Safety Center (Director Kim Heon) announced on the 16th that their Fire Department's Jin Jun-ho was selected as the representative civil servant recommended by the public at the 2026 government New Year's reception and received the 11th Republic of Korea Civil Servant Award for Service Merit, presented by the President.
This award marks the first time a Gyeongbuk Fire Department official has received the award in 10 years, since 2015. Jin Jun-ho is the first field firefighter to receive the award at the Republic of Korea Civil Servant Award.
The "Republic of Korea Civil Servant Award," administered by the Ministry of Personnel Management, was established in 2015. It recognizes outstanding field officials who have dedicated themselves to the nation and its people, as well as individuals who have successfully implemented key national policies and become role models for the public sector. Award recipients are selected through a rigorous process that includes two rounds of screening, public verification, on-site inspections, and a national evaluation panel. Award recipients may receive preferential personnel treatment, including special promotions and the highest level of performance bonuses.
Firefighter Jin Jun-ho, who joined the fire service in 2005, has dedicated himself to rescue, emergency medical services, and fire suppression at various disaster sites for 20 years. Notably, he received the Heartsaver Award three times for resuscitating three cardiac arrest patients. He also received the Fire Commissioner's Award on behalf of the Gyeongbuk Fire Department at the 6th National Assembly Suicide Prevention Awards for his contributions to the rescue of a total of 12 suicide attempters. He has also received numerous other awards, including the Geumoh Grand Prize in the Social Disaster Prevention category 45 times and the Outstanding Firefighter Award in the Fire Response category.
In his acceptance speech, Firefighter Jin Jun-ho said, “I am honored to receive this great award thanks to my parents, wife, and two children who have supported me throughout my 20 years of public service,” and added, “I will continue to fulfill my duties as a public servant of the Republic of Korea who protects the lives and safety of the people.”
