[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 밀양시는 중소벤처기업부 등 중앙부처가 시행하는 ‘2026년 시군구 연고산업 육성 협업 프로젝트’ 공모에서 경남도내 유일하게 최종 선정돼 국비 16억2천만원을 확보했다고 19일 밝혔다.
시는 지난 1년간 첨단소재·부품 기반의 제조산업과 고유한 문화·관광자원을 결합한 사업 추진 전략을 내실 있게 수립해 이번 쾌거를 거뒀다.
이번 공모사업은 중소벤처기업부, 행정안전부, 법무부, 문화체육관광부 등 6개 부처가 공동 주관하는 협업 프로젝트로, 지역의 특화된 연고산업을 발굴·육성하여 인구감소에 따른 지역소멸 위기에 대응하고자 추진된다.
선정된 사업은 2026년부터 2년간 총 23억 1,600만원(국비 16억 2,000만원, 도비 3억 4,800만원, 시비 3억 4,800만원) 규모로 추진된다.
시는 밀양 소재·부품산업의 사업 다각화 및 기술 경쟁력 강화를 지원해 실질적인 매출 증대와 일자리 창출을 이끌어 낼 계획이다.
특히 시는 이번 사업을 통해 기업의 기술 경쟁력 강화를 위한 맞춤형 지원과 지역특화형 비자 발급 행정지원을 병행하여 기업 인력난 해소와 우수한 외국인력의 안정적인 정착을 돕는다.
또한 디지털 관광 주민증 기반의 산업과 관광을 연계한 특색 있는 산업관광 활성화 프로그램을 추진할 계획이다.
시 관계자는 “이번 공모 선정은 다부처 협업을 통해 밀양의 새로운 성장 동력을 확보했다는 점에서 의미가 크다”라며 “앞으로도 실효성 있는 연고산업 육성사업 추진으로 지방 소멸 대응과 지역 경제 활성화에 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.
