【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스(총장 류완하)는 지난 1월 5일부터 16일까지 동국대 WISE캠퍼스와 경주 일원에서 브라질 학생들을 대상으로 한 단기 ‘WINTER CAMP’를 운영했다고 밝혔다.

이번 프로그램은 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 건학위원회의 중점 사업과 연계해 추진됐으며, 브라질 상파울루 한류문화원의 추천을 받은 브라질 학생 10명이 참가했다. 참가 학생들은 한국 불교문화 콘텐츠를 접목한 기초 한국어 교육을 비롯해 다양한 문화 체험 프로그램에 참여했다.
특히 학생들은 유네스코 세계문화유산인 불국사와 석굴암을 탐방하며 한국 불교문화의 역사와 가치를 직접 체험했으며, 교내 선센터에서 진행된 참선과 명상 프로그램을 통해 한국 불교문화의 정신적 의미를 깊이 이해하는 시간을 가졌다.
이번 겨울캠프는 비불교권 국가인 남미 지역 학생들에게 한국 불교문화를 소개하고, 문화 교류를 확대하는 데 중점을 둔 프로그램으로 평가받고 있다.
이유경 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 국제교류처장은 “2020년부터 지속적으로 운영해 온 브라질 학생 대상 WINTER CAMP는 남미 지역 학생들에게 한국 불교문화를 체험할 수 있는 의미 있는 기회를 제공하고, 해외 전법과 국제 교류 확대의 초석을 다지는 데 큰 가치가 있다”며 “앞으로도 건학 이념을 바탕으로 한 특화된 글로벌 교육 교류를 확대해 대학의 국제 경쟁력을 강화해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Dongguk University WISE Campus Hosts Winter Camp for Brazilian Students, Expanding Experiences with Korean Buddhist Culture
Dongguk University WISE Campus (President Ryu Wan-ha) announced that it hosted a short-term "WINTER CAMP" for Brazilian students from January 5th to 16th at its WISE Campus and the Gyeongju area.
This program, implemented in conjunction with the Dongguk University WISE Campus Foundation Committee's key projects, involved ten Brazilian students recommended by the São Paulo Korean Culture Center. Participants participated in various cultural experiences, including basic Korean language classes incorporating Korean Buddhist cultural content.
In particular, students visited Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, where they firsthand experienced the history and value of Korean Buddhist culture. They also gained a deeper understanding of the spiritual significance of Korean Buddhist culture through meditation and meditation programs at the on-campus Seon Center.
This winter camp is recognized as a program focused on introducing Korean Buddhist culture to students from non-Buddhist South American countries and expanding cultural exchange.
Lee Yu-kyung, Director of the Office of International Affairs at Dongguk University's WISE Campus, stated, "The Winter Camp for Brazilian Students, which has been running continuously since 2020, provides a meaningful opportunity for students in South America to experience Korean Buddhist culture and is of great value in laying the foundation for expanding overseas Buddhist teachings and international exchanges." She added, "We will continue to strengthen the university's international competitiveness by expanding specialized global educational exchanges based on our founding principles."
