교육청에 따르면 2025년 기준 경북의 이주배경학생은 1만3,196명에 달한다. 이에 따라 초등학교용과 중학교용 자료를 별도로 제작하고, 학부모가 자녀의 학교생활 전반을 보다 쉽게 알 수 있도록 내용을 대폭 손봤다.
이번 안내서에는 캄보디아어(크메르어)가 새롭게 추가돼 총 7개 언어로 제공된다. 기존에 텍스트 위주로 꾸려졌던 안내서에 그림과 사진 등 시각 자료를 크게 늘려 언어 장벽을 낮추고 현장 활용도를 높인 것이 특징이다.
초등학교용 자료에는 학교 행사, 학습 습관, 건강·안전, 이주배경학생 지원 제도 등 학교생활 전반에 관한 내용이 담겼다. 중학교용은 학습과 평가, 진로·진학, 학생 생활 등 학부모가 궁금해하는 핵심 정보를 중심으로 구성됐다.
안내서는 경북교육청 교수학습 지원 사이트 ‘내친구교육넷’에서 전자책과 PDF 형태로 열람 및 다운로드가 가능하다. 교육청은 앞으로 다문화가족지원센터와 도서관, 각급 학교에도 인쇄본을 비치해 접근성을 높일 계획이다.
임종식 경북교육감은 “이번 다국어 안내서가 이주배경가정 학부모와 학생들의 궁금증을 해소하고, 안정적인 학교생활을 돕는 데 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 이주배경 학생들이 우리 사회의 건강한 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 학부모 교육 지원을 더욱 강화하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Gyeongbuk Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik stated, "I hope this multilingual guidebook will help parents and students from immigrant families address their questions and support a stable school life. We will continue to strengthen parental educational support to ensure that students from immigrant backgrounds grow into healthy, contributing members of our society."
