수성구는 지난 21일 셸터 설치를 마치고 이달부터 순차적으로 운영을 시작했다고 밝혔다. 이번 사업은 과학기술정보통신부의 2025년 스마트 공공시설 공모사업에 선정돼 추진됐다.
셸터 설치 장소는 경신고·대륜고·중앙고 인근과 범물1동 행정복지센터 등 학생과 주민 이용이 많은 학원가와 생활 거점 중심으로 선정됐다. 구는 유동 인구와 대중교통 수요를 종합적으로 분석해 설치지를 결정했다.
스마트 안심버스 셸터는 냉난방 시설과 공기정화장치, 냉·온열 의자 등 기후 대응 설비를 비롯해, 실시간 버스 도착 정보를 제공하는 안내기, 홍보 디스플레이, 유무선 충전기, 공공 와이파이 등 다양한 편의시설을 갖췄다. 또 범죄 예방과 긴급 상황 대처를 위해 통합관제센터와 연계한 CCTV와 비상벨도 운영된다.

이번 설치로 수성구는 대구 내에서 가장 많은 스마트 안심버스 셸터를 보유한 자치구가 됐다. 이전까지 대구시 전체에는 동구 2곳, 서구 7곳, 북구 4곳, 중구 1곳, 달서구 7곳, 달성군 3곳 등 총 24곳이 운영되고 있었으나, 수성구 12곳이 추가되면서 전체는 36곳으로 늘었다.
수성구는 이번 사업을 통해 교통 약자의 이동권 보장과 대중교통 이용 활성화를 기대하고 있다. 특히 학생과 어르신 등 대기 시간이 긴 이용자가 체감하는 편의가 크게 높아질 것으로 전망했다.
김대권 수성구청장은 “스마트 안심버스 셸터는 ICT를 활용해 안전과 편의를 한층 강화한 공간”이라며 “단순히 버스를 기다리는 장소를 넘어 미래형 대중교통 환경의 새로운 기준으로 자리잡을 수 있도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “앞으로도 첨단 기술을 접목한 스마트 행정으로 더욱 안전하고 쾌적한 도시환경을 조성해 나가겠다”고 덧붙였다.

Kim Dae-kwon, the mayor of Suseong-gu, stated, "The Smart Safe Bus Shelter utilizes ICT to significantly enhance safety and convenience. He added, "Going forward, we will continue to create a safer and more pleasant urban environment through smart administration that incorporates cutting-edge technology."
